NEW YORK If Debra Lafave is convicted of sexual misconduct and lewd exhibition, the middle school teacher will be part of a frightening trend: A report to Congress Wednesday found that one in every 10 school-age kids endures sexual misconduct by a teacher or other school employee.
Lafave is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student at least five times at her home, at school and in the back of her SUV.
The student identified butterfly and Chinese letter tattoos on Lafave's body for investigators.
The 23-year-old reading specialist at Greco Middle School near Ocala, Fla., turned herself into authorities Monday, accompanied by her attorney.
Yes, and the truth is,.. it has a good chance of destroying his entire life with how he relates to women.. He may never look at his own mother or any other loving woman with the same trusting innocence again. Not what you would think of on first blush, it is a very, very sad situation..

She wasn't a good role model. Took away the boy's innocence and cheated on her husband. I don't care how beautiful a woman is; a man respects her when she says "no" to his advances when its inappropriate. A man wants to look up to a woman. And there is the husband. I don't know if she was getting back for an affair or neglect in her marriage or simply because she could but she wasn't really thinking about her marriage vows when she was getting it on with a teenage boy in various compromising situations. A marriage is reposed on trust after all but unfortunately sometimes human nature gets in the way of good intentions.

You're probably right on that count, because I would find her guilty of statutory rape. I find this women, and what she did to a child, disgusting.

Agreed. A hunky guy would be lynched doing it to a teenage girl but boys are expected to sow their oats and become a man. The old double standard.

But in case you haven't noticed, there is a difference between males and females. A male reaches his sexual peak at a much younger age than a female.

Nice trick. Now that she has turned herself into "the authorities", will she have the responsibility of handling her own case? And how does one change oneself from a lowly teacher's aid into "the authorities"? What was her lawyer's role in this transformation?
