Phoenix police arrested a Phoenix ice cream vendor Tuesday in connection with raping and impregnating a 9-year-old girl he befriended on his sales route, said police Sgt. Randy Force.
Adrian Gonzalez, 24, was arrested at his home at 4621 E. Hubbell St. and booked into Maricopa Countys Madison Street Jail in Phoenix on suspicion of two counts each of kidnapping and sexual misconduct with a minor, with a dangerous crimes against children classification, Force said.
On different occasions Gonzalez drove brown-andwhite vans in the area of 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road, near where the girl lived. Gonzalez befriended the girl and her siblings, and got to know her mother well enough to persuade her to let the girl accompany him on his route, Force said.
Several sexual acts occurred in the van, Force said.
"This subject intimidated the girl into silence by telling her he would kill her siblings and kill her mother if she told," he said.
The possible abuse came to light after the girl complained to a friend of what was later determined to be a pregnancy-related illness. The girl took a home pregnancy test and later informed the police of the rape, Force said. The pregnancy was confirmed by police, Force said.
The rape was reported to have happened in April or May, Force said.
Police fear there could be other victims.
"There could be other children out there that are just too scared to say anything," Force said.
If the girl's life is threatened, as it likely would be, then the pregnancy must terminate. But killing the baby does not put reality into reverse. The baby already exists. If the baby and the girl can live that that's the moral option.
What's obscene and abusive is what the rapist did to the girl. The baby is innocent, as is the girl. She will be traumatized by an abortion just as much as she will be traumatized by a term pregnancy. The issue is more about the fact that she probably cannot carry the child to term.
The soy explanation is a crock. Girls who never eat any soy at all are still hitting puberty much earlier than 50 years ago. Excess body fat is a big reason, as well as hormones in meat and dairy products. Could be other environmental stuff as well, but that hasn't been proven. It was proven a long time ago that you can trigger earlier puberty by making a girl fatter at an earlier age.
Yes, puberty happens so much earlier now. My daughter's breasts began to develop when she was only 7. Not expecting puberty I was frightened that she may have a tumor or cyst and took her to the doctor who diagnosed her as being pubescent. He said that he would only diagnose her with premature puberty if she had been under 6. He went on to explain about the hormones in food and milk, etc...Now my daughter has a very mature body that houses her pre teen mind. It is enough to keep me awake at night in prayer for her.
Well I'm just speaking from personal experience. I didn't say I knew the child at all, but have you ever been raped at that young an age? I have. From my experiences, there's pro-life idealogy then there's real life and there are many women who take emergency contraception or later get an abortion and don't feel any guilt whatsoever.
The baby appeared healthy but we did have to use general anesthesia to keep the mother still. She was more sexually mature than the average 10 year old. It was not a particularly long labor - maybe 6 hours. Lucky, I guess.
Actually a story like that would be a perfect one to discuss on FreeRepublic. The use of public money to "rescue" animals has long been a pet peeve of mine. (Pun intended)
At Cooper Green of course.
It is very possible for a 9-year-old girl to get pregnant. The onset of puberty is statistically at a younger age now than it was even 15 years ago. I have several friends with daughters who started their periods at age 9 or 10.
This scumbag should be staked out by a river and let every fisherman passing by cut a piece off him for fishbait.
Of course a nine-year-old can get pregnant. There are plenty of girls who go through puberty at very young ages. I went to elementary school with a few who were fully developed at nine.
This wouldn't happen if ice cream vendors were allowed to marry.
Figures. Sheesh!
. . . yeah, I noticed that as well.
Only if "pro-lifers" insist on brainwashing her into thinking she should be. If she was just taken to the doctor, told it was no big deal and in half an hour she won't be pregnant anymore, put under light anesthesia, and then given a big hug when she wakes up, she'd be just fine. But unfortunately, we've got this huge organized mob which goes around trying to make women feel traumatized about past abortions, and then after they've got them traumatized, hollering "SEE, we TOLD you abortion traumatizes women. They'll never let up on her.
Temper tantrum??? what are you talking about? Again. Read my posts. I do not believe there are any easy solutions.
Yes I agree, the tragedy here is that the girl was raped and now pregnant by a lowlife dirtbag that should be shot. So now what? I simply gave my opinion on the poor girls pregnancy.
See my post about 15 back. I delivered a 10 year old when I was a 4th year Medical student. That was 30 years ago.
Whoever said the left are the only ones who a slaves to their ideologies?
I would love to have a little time alone with this guy.
Okay. The power of that statement is in your word choices. But "real life" is that a live baby exists. Real life also is that abortions are traumatic in themselves. That I know from trying to make a friend of mine accept hers. She lived with a great deal of guilt. Real life is that there are no good choices for this 9-year-old girl. I get tired of hearing pro-aborts try to claim that abortion is just birth control. It is not.
I could live with legal abortions in the case of rape and incest. It still kills an innocent baby, but I do understand that the mother never had the original choice (unlike the vast majority of abortions). But it is just as tragic as living with a pregnancy that resulted from a rape. The trauma is different, but it's at least as strong. An innocent baby dies. That's real life (or that WAS real life).
