Hi W!!! Good to see you too! I have been babbling like mad about M&C, trying to convert. I think its because I overindulged on LOTR.

Everything is very good! Even the barbarian neighbors (did I talk about them here? about their boom box and how their teenage son made it a point to play it when his parents werent at home so it wasnt long enough to get caught but long enough to piss everyone off??) We *think* he totaled the car, a little red hot number, cause we havent seen it for quite some tiem, and two different cars have shown up in their driveway. The latest one is a blue sports car, which I am assuming they are juicing up so they can go back to pissing everyone off again.

We have letters waiting...heheheheheheh.

We are going up the Texas Musical Festival at Washington on the Brazos tomorrow. My parents are meeting us there. Should be fun!!

Well, I have learned from riding that those solid wheels are much better. I like the look of spokes - but they are a pain if you ride everyday or on long trips.

I always wanted chrome twisted spoke wheels though. And the bike I have now has that. I love it! It looks like a million dollars. Takes a couple of hours to detail... which I can handle if I need to... but man oh man do they look great!

However, I don't know if I would intentionally put them on another bike or not. I like riding more than showing.

I will see if I can find a picture of the wheels I would put on my next bike if I could choose.

Red Dwarf was a funny show :) They still show it sometimes in syndication around here, usually on public TV. In high school my friends and I produced a cable-access TV show inspired by Red Dwarf where we spoofed a bunch of different SF and other movies. I played an evil rapping Kung Fu space pirate. After a climactic fight scene recreating the showdown between Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee in Return of the Dragon (Bruce being played by a Chinese guy from our high school, with our voices being dubbed in later along with many strange sound effects), I was mysteriously killed by a laser beam from an orbiting space ship, in order to cut out some scenes that didn't fit into the final editing continuity.

Hope somehow that teenage son gets a little guidance somewhere. :-) If he has already totaled the hot little red car it's doubtful though. Hope this is not a bad influence on your little one! Yikes!

I don't think it's real angst if you can talk yourself out of it in two paragraphs :) Hmmm--this is kind of the opposite problem to that faced by Stimpy in the episode where he was trying to teach Ren how to be happy. He eventually forced him to be happy by making him wear a Happy Helmet that beamed electrical impulses into his head. Maybe we need an Unhappy Helmet for you. . .

I understand. I got the Mustang 'cuz it was a reasonably sporty car for a fraction of the money of anything else in its class. The 05 Mustang promises to be in a similar space.

The 'vette is really nice, and somewhat faster, for somewhere more than double the money.

I like driving my American car, but you have to understand that it's a compromise, and I've settled for being left in the dust by the Porsches. I can live with it. It is the way of things. It's OK though... even though there isn't any American car maker that makes anything that can keep up, I also wouldn't pay more than six figures for a car even if they could, and even if I could afford it. :-)

That kind of money is better spent on boats. :-)

This was the Monte Carlo SS I looked at! Ebony interior. Sweet. Engine rumbled nicely! :-)

GM is offering factory-approved supercharger kits to make their little cars into domestic ricers.

I almost wish I still had my 1970 Cutlass W31 (only 300 made). With the 11:1 compression ratio it needed premium gas, overheated at stoplights, and dieseled when it was shut off. And the fat tires hydroplaned badly. Other than that, it was a fun car.

Is the TV series worth watching?

Well, I have to admit it's one of my guilty pleasures. It's not terribly deep. I think the first few seasons were the best, when the characters were being developed pretty well.

I'll go with the class. IMO, that's what you're doing with your American choice? Am I some kind of brand bigot? Anybody can call me that if they want... but I prefer to think that I'm a patriot and will support my country.

I dunno, you know how us "old" type of Harley riders are. We still preferred to ride iron-heads and shovel-heads when the world was talking about the oil leaks and chanting "Harley Harley buy the best, Ride a mile and walk the rest."

I find it no slur to be accused of running 60 weight in my veins. Nope, even to those jap crap riders who say that as a bad thing, I take it as a supreme compliment. Screw 'em.

I would have one of the fixed ones if they aren't spoken for.

When they come back, I think we'll have a form of "silent auction" in case more than one person wants the same knife. The starting price will be the price I paid, plus shipping to get it to you. I won't charge for the laser-engraving on it. The winning bid will be highest bidder, but the price will be $1 more than the next-highest bidder. Sort of like a Dutch auction.

If nobody else wants that particular knife, you get it for my cost. Any profits will be plowed back into the knife program.

We could make a car here in the U.S. that could leave the Germans and the Italians all hot and sweaty. OK... Italians are like that anyway... but the principle sticks.

The Shelby Cobra was perhaps the finest full-boat sports car ever made by anybody. We can do it, and we should. We need to make a no-compromise fastmover, with a little class.
