The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The rest of us didn't know how easy we were getting off!

It's funny... I've been trying to keep my legs and feet covered so that Dona and/or Dad wouldn't see them on weekends. But... forgot socks last weekend and accidentally Dad saw my feet. He was horrified. He didn't think I needed to go to the hospital, but pretty close. He was gonna make me an appointment to see Dr. Merchant (a dermatologist). Yeesh... that's all I need.

Fer cryin' out loud... they're just some bug bites. They itch and I've been scratching them so they haven't gone away. It's just not rocket science.

Newsflash. It's also not rocket science that a dermotologist could give you something that would help you more.

*ducking*

Oh yeah! We're gonna get us one of them so we can have a nice hot soak after a hard day's construction work!

Maybe weddingmoot attendees should have a hot tub handy.

Just in case. Might be sore muscles from all that horseplay on the beach. :-)

If I thought doctors were useful I would have become one, and cut out the middleman.

When it's spoken, to me it sounds softer than that. Like all three syllables have the same weight, and the vowels are lighter. I love listening to Japanese, it's a gorgeous language. One of the few I like to hear.

If my Japanese ever progresses beyond being able to count to 10, I'd love to read Tolkien translated into Japanese. BTW, I once read somewhere that he translated the Book of Jonah from Hebrew into Japanese--anyone else know anything about that?

BTW, speaking of dubbing, here's something funny :)

The Fellowship of the Ring Distorted in Japanese Subtitles

But I did hear that there are now some Japanese soldiers pulling duty in Iraq.

Can you even imagine a greater clash of culture and language than that? I not supposing that Arabic is a very common second language in Japan, nor Japanese in Iraq. I really have to feel for both sides there, inasmuch as they're all standing around wondering how it was that things came to be this way. It's humorous, really.

You can't get yourself a hot tub at the beach and call it a wedding present...

We are off for awhile.... meeting Sonya and Tim for drinks at El Sarape.

I can't??? Sure I can. If you don't like it, then don't use it. :-P

El Sarape? Really? Give my regards...

Waaah! Disk ended and everyone is miserable. Should I start another and find out what happens, or go to bed?

I'm not that tired.

Hmmm... good thought. Need to trench the electrical in some PVC conduit, and then maybe a small weathertight panel...
