Crazy Dog may well be part horse, at least by osmosis - she hangs around the barn with me and jumps all the jumps in the ring (3'6" is no problem for her even though all she has to jump in USDAA is 22"). But her real name is Sumo's CoDoz Brown Bombshell - Shelley for short (the breeder named her - I am NOT responsible. I would have given her a Classical Greek name - either somebody's hunting dog or one of the Furies or Harpies.)

See, I avoid Steven King...
Ugh, I am so wiped from this trip. It's going to take me days to recover.

Indeed, The Shining was filmed not far from there!

We planted a bunch of peppers and tomatoes last weekend. I bought a bunch of tomatoes and peppers too but have them in the sunroom as I am afraid it might be too early up here to put them in the ground. We did plant some lettuce, spinach, peas and put 9 strawberry plants in the ground...just enough for a taste. We'll see how they do.
I love spring!!! We have some beautiful flowers coming up...not sure what kind they are though.

how did you deal with deer? Honey, we lived in the burbs, I never saw any deer! I guess you could put in a fence sround the squares, or spray some of that stuff that repels deer on the grass around the blocks.
OT used to have a problem with deer in her garden, maybe she can give you some hints.

See, I avoid Steven King...Have you read anything by him? My favorites are Shining and 'Salem's Lot. BTW, I picked up a copy of Heinlein's Podkayne of Mars over the weekend--any good? Also got A Wrinkle in Time and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Ugh, I am so wiped from this trip. It's going to take me days to recover.
I was up 'til 4 last night debating politics with a friend, so that's about how I feel today--ugh.
BTW, after you recover, you have a (part of a) short story.

That's great that good folks are teaching there. A lot of the 'top tier' schools are there for reasons other than the quality of their teaching. Harvard, for example, may boast about having John Kenneth Galbraith on staff, but he hasn't taught a class in years. Come to think of it, maybe that's a good thing! ;o)

I'm thinkin' if my neighbor and his buddies were questioning how to keep the deer outta my garden I might have to explain that a .30-06 would work very well on all bothersome varmints. (with an eyeball to eyeball look of significance right at doughboy)

Ya know. My aunt went up there and took my oldest daughter to all the filming sights. They stayed up at Ft. Collins when they were going to those places but I'm not certain of the exact locations. Aunt Cheryl would draw you detailed maps though! LOL

A deer-chasing dog that stays in the backyard all night? Dang varmints ate everything.

One does need meat to go with all them fresh garden veggies!

"Podkayne" is interesting. Did you get the version with both endings? Not his best work, IMO, but nice. First SF novel I ever read with a strong female character. Heh, and her brother serves to remind me that I could be a lot less fortunate with my sibs.
Yawn. I'm going to bed.

The TV version they did later was closer to the book.

Heh, and her brother serves to remind me that I could be a lot less fortunate with my sibs.I have a 1993 Baen edition which is the first to include both endings and has a contest asking the readers to pick which ending to include in future editions. I'll let you know which ending I like best after I read it.
Yawn. I'm going to bed.
Have a good night!
