The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Conceivably. . .

The genealogy research sounds pretty involved if you have to go all the way to the National Archives! Are you tracing it just in the US or does it involve records of immigration, too?

Oh, shut up, I didn't sleep last night.

Letting your kid play with an aging musician is a bad idea /stupid modeLOL! Sting was good when he was with the Police. He's kinda goofy with his politics now, but occasionally still does something decent. He did a song a few years ago I kinda liked:
Lady Dolphin and her Dolphin beau
Were swimming out to sea one day
All the other lady dolphins smiled
But they were smiling in that subtle dolphin way
So they pretended that they'd pay it no mind
But she was female of the jealous kind
She couldn't stand it not to ask him why
She could see that he was flattered by the twinkle in his eye
She said, "How much do you need me?"
How much do you need me?
Would you stay with me 'til this ocean floor is dry?
But if you cannot find the words that say
I'm the only one you love that way
I guess we'll have to say goodbye
He said, "My love for you is wider than the wide Sargasso Sea"
I have to find a way to win you dear
But there's two atmospheres of pressure on me here
How much do I need you? How much do I need you?
I can't seem to find the words to make you stay
But remember all the things I've said
That I'll love you 'til the day I'm dead
'Cause I need you like this hole in my head
I need you like this hole in my head

Oh, and here's a photo of our larger 5700 with the standard KISS. The extra length makes all the difference in the world when trying to open the knife one-handed. There is just not enough leverage in the smaller knife, which is still in production. And CRKT makes an even
smaller one, suitable mostly for a money clip.
I have no idea why they dropped the very best size of the lineup, but they did.

Oh, shut up, I didn't sleep last night.I can't concieve of not sleeping :) BTW, if sleeping made Rip Van Winkle's beard grow, does not sleeping make hair grow slower? :)

Hmm. Not sure how we would test that hypothesis.
Oh dear... well, I think I'm going to get some anime but I don't think it's licit. I should have learned my lesson with "Escaflowne" - first disk was great, second disk had two episodes that were barely translated. But I have my weaknesses.

Hmm. Not sure how we would test that hypothesis.Hmmm--maybe sever his corpus callosum connecting his right and left brains, then only put one side of his face to sleep while the other half is awake, and use a Norelco on one side of his beard and a Gillette on the other and see which side shaves closer after 40 years? :)
Getting some anime sounds like a good idea--I'll take that as my cue to pop in that Godzilla movie I dug out before but haven't put in yet while I've been talking online! First movie is Godzilla vs. Monster Zero--which is appropos because Monster Zero is from the 10th planet in the solar system, which was just discovered in real life this week! What anime are you going to watch?

Well, first I have to buy it, but - I think I'm going to go ahead and get Ruruoni Kenshin. I know it's good. And there's lots of it. It just means no new shoes this month (sneakers are getting a little worn) and no more books, either.
Which will bring my total anime collection to four series - "Vison of Escaflowne", "Scrapped Princess", and "Lost Universe" I already own. I've been acquiring them at a rate of about one a year...

He really had to use the force to get it all cleaned up. At first he was just spreading it around, then he realized that he could scoop it up with his hands cupped together. PE showed him how to use the shovel, and later found a small handbroom to use as well. It took a long time, with lots of crying, griping, and angry, hateful words on his part. Guess he needed to get it out, but he needs to understand that when you make a mess (accident or not) you have to clean it up as well as you possibly can... without complaining.
Truly, it was the Dark Side of the force that got him into trouble.

Well, ya know most of us have really loved *our* knives. God was really in that for us. I'm thinkin' if we can't get 'em then what we do get will serve some purpose God's got in mind as well. Just don't know what our guys are gonna need 'em for over there Winmag.

If you have two CD drives and one is read-write (like I have), you can rent anime DVDs and copy them. . .If you want to save some money, I might be persuaded to see if my local video store has any anime to rent :)
To: 300winmag
Not sure that came out right.
I mean. Something may happen where one of our soldiers needs specifically that new knife!

Truly, it was the Dark Side of the force that got him into trouble.Went to face Vader too soon, he did. But learn he will, even as Obi-wan did. Not having his sword, teach him this will :)

I've never tried copying a dvd with a cd burner. Does that work? Isn't the cd too small?

Right not, the research only involves US. I really need to send off for my mother's greatgrandfather's Civil War records. The last time I was at the National Archives, I found where he had served in Warren Co., TN. This is the side of the family where there were both Union and Confederate soldiers. Literally, a split family. I already have the certificate of service in the Confederate Army from my dad's greatgrandfather. He joined at Vicksburg, but missed the battle because he was sent away on detail.
Also on my dad's side, there were many Revolutionary War vets. Two of which are direct my ancestors. However, I do not have the proof that DAR requires, and am not sure I have the patience to dig it all up. I am just amazed and content knowing that all my direct lines were in America before the Revolutuionary War.

Yes, it works--there is no size problem. You need a read-write drive, plus a software program like Roxio Easy CD Creator or Clone CD.
