President Bush traveled to New York today to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nassau County 9/11 Memorial in Eisenhower Park, Long Island, being built in memory of the 281 residents of Nassau County who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks, and visited with families of the victims. Before he left, he made a statement to the press regarding the terrorist attack in Madrid, Spain.

He also visited USA Industries, an automotive parts manufacturing company in Bay Shore, New York, and spoke to workers about the economy and jobs training. He then attended a fund raiser with Rudy Giuliani and Governor Pataki.

it's on the left side of his face, not quite on the nose...it's about the size of a pencil eraser...Two Flight Surgeons confirmed it was a basal cell, which is good news...it just needs to be cut out and they want a plastic surgeon to do it...but most ENT's are trained a little in plastic surgery and there might be an ENT at the CSHospital...he'll see another surgeon at 1pm..4am my time.

OH! Got our 'Airfield Reception/Re-UNIFICATION PROCEDURE' in the mail today! It's OFFICIAL!

We are going to be UNIFIED with our son in less than two weeks!!!

I have been considering all afternoon whether another attack on the US would help or hurt President Bush. It would remind us all of the feelings and resolve we had after 9/11 and that President Bush took the leadership to get us through that tragedy. Thinking about Kerry in the same position might wake Americans up to the fact that Kerry has no leadership and would only do the bidding of the UN. However another attack in the months leading up to the election would be on President Bush's watch and so he would be held very accountable for it. I still believe the American people would see that President Bush would be the right leader to step up the war on terror and put an end to it in an even stronger way than after 9/11. Anyone have any thoughts???

Sorry to hear about the basal cell mystery. You are right though, they are very treatable. Sun-caused. My f-i-l has had a few of them, just has to have them removed.

Father we pray for Mike during this time of illness. We pray for the surgeons who will attend him, that they will remove every cell of the cancer, that no infection will be present, that there will be no complications and that complete healing will take place. Give him peace as he goes through this and return him quickly to the leadership role he enjoys. Give peace to his family who wait. We pray in the strong name of Jesus, Amen...

I will know a lot more tomorrow...he's gonna try and make them take it off there...he don't need no stinking plastic surgery...it is a simple procedure and will require stitches...he's doesn't want to leave country because it will take too long.

btw...he said, he's afraid he'll end up like Michael Jackson....Im gonna buy him some Groucho Marx glasses with the fake nose...LOL

My computer is sooooo sssllllooooowwwww tonight--don't know why, so I can't do any research on it right now.

But from one of my medical books, it says Basal Cell Carcinoma is the most common form of cancer, often on the face, usually on sun-exposed skin, grow slowly, metastases almost never occur, so that's VERY good. Of course they need to be reomoved, and care needs to be taken to make sure ALL of it is removed.

The book doesn't say anything about further treatment, but that changes so fast that almost as soon as it's printed, it's out of date. If it almost never spreads, they probably don't have to do a lot other than make sure it's all out. But I'm not sure.

But like you say, it is VERY treatable. That's good news. Still, such a shock!

Prayers for Mike that he gets the treatment he needs. It is very treatable, you know, and not life-threatening if it is removed.

It seems like you both are being tested. Hang in there; God will see you through.
