President Bush traveled to New York today to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nassau County 9/11 Memorial in Eisenhower Park, Long Island, being built in memory of the 281 residents of Nassau County who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks, and visited with families of the victims. Before he left, he made a statement to the press regarding the terrorist attack in Madrid, Spain.
He also visited USA Industries, an automotive parts manufacturing company in Bay Shore, New York, and spoke to workers about the economy and jobs training. He then attended a fund raiser with Rudy Giuliani and Governor Pataki.
There are lots of fabulous pictures today, so enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose !!

When I consider that the day of tragedy was two and a half years ago, and look at the smallness of that little tyke, I wonder,
How well could he even have known his dad? It's the younger ones who will always feel the loss the most acutely. Psychologists have proven this out over many studies and many years. May God especially bless all the children whose parents died that awful, awful day.
I wonder what was going through his mind as he held up the photo, waiting for Mr. Bush. The photo is extremely evocative.
To me it's every atom as poignant as little John Kennedy, Jr. saluting his dad's casket, if not more so, because he looks a little older and therefore, more aware of what he's lost.

Just got the memo from the Bush/Cheney campaign.
They said two new ads start tomorrow:
***One ad highlights the choice the American people face this November - a choice between the President's positive agenda to move America forward and an alternative that will take America backward.
The other ad shows John Kerry's plan for the first 100 days of his would-be presidency - a plan that is wrong on taxes and wrong on defense.***

I think it's a great testament to the strength, vitality and elasticity of your marriage that you and Nancy can come on here, unexaggeratedly, casually discuss the extremes that go with serving in wartime in a foreign country, talk about the important and little things back home and in doing so, allow us to laugh or sorrow with you through it all.

Dont need no quotes ...
Not unless there is white space in the URL, which happens so infrequently its not worth worrying about.

Thank you for telling me that about the 9/11 victims' family members who would like to make ads for Bush. WHAT A GREAT THING! I did not hear it anywhere else (and no cable, so not likely to).
I hope they can get something together for these people. Think how cathartic it would be for them, and beneficial for America altogether.

And when you trying to show others some html code, replace each:
character with the four characters:
so that your html code displays as you intended, instead of being converted to its usual meaning (a red
X, in this case).

mystery-ak, I will definitely keep Mike in my prayers! My brother had a basal cell skin cancer removed from his ear about 14 years ago! Proof that it is curable! :-) He too waited many months to have it seen about...had to go back several times and still sees a dermatologist once a year. What I know about basal cell cancer is that if it does metastasize - it only goes to skin - not anywhere else.

Our allies know how fortunate they are to have President Bush in office tonight. They have a true friend in America.

Prayers for your wonderful husband. This is one of the more treatable forms of skin cancer, thankfully. You are both such strong, admirable people. My hat is off to both of your.

I live in a Protectionist State -- Washington -- where it is now clear that the three main alphabet news stations locally will do anything to protect the dems.
If it were not for the Internet and especially FR, I would be wandering in a daze.
The problem is that I am old enough to have been able to go to the network news affiliates and have gotten the actual news, not the excerpted-to-cover-the-dems'-patooties "news" and I revert to my former patterns (of seeking news) when a disaster hits.
I'm glad I got the news on FR first about Spain and the "alleged" spy.
The deal is, she was employed by two Seattle-area newspapers and I could actually feel a sense of fear in the newsreaders (long-time poseurs shilling for the DNC) as they lightly tread into the waters on this story. I could tell they want more, much more, info on who did what to whom (and want to test what public outcry might arise) before they will dare report the whole story.
It is plain and filthy disgusting.
Some day maybe I will learn to drop my expectations of being told the true stories. But I hope not. I hope rather that THEY get a spine and a conscience and whatever else it takes to report the news, unfiltered by their blackened hearts.
If this sounds harsh / extreme, take it as a clue of how fed up I am with the poliitics of this blue, blue state.
