My sister-in-law, Sarah, widow of my departed brother, was operated on for a large ovarian tumor on Friday. It has spread and the Doctors spent 5 hours removing as much of it from the abdominal cavity as possible. It is classified stage 4 - terminal.

Heavenly Father,
You are the only hope for Sarah. You know the condition not only of her body but also of her soul and spirit. We commit her to You, Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ, asking that the eyes of her heart would be enlightened by the truth of Your Word. We pray for the Holy Spirit to convict her, Father, so that she may spend eternity with You. We know it is not Your will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Hear our prayers, Father. Please prolong her life so that she may know Jesus as her Savior and Lord. We boldly pray for her physical healing as well. Father, You are able. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I join with the others here in praying for her spiritual healing and physical comfort! I pray for you, the son and all the family - God's blessing and peace and guidance!

Prayers for Sarah, and for you, TNt. I pray your family will have the words to bring her to the Lord and I pray you will all have comfort as you deal with her illness.
Be a good witness. After I lost my father, a member of the family came to me and asked my secret for coping so well. It was with a truthful heart that I gave all the glory to God. In fact, I couldn't have done it without His love and peace and strength! That member was led to accept Him a few years later, and told me what an influence I had on his decision. We never ever know who's watching us...
Abundant blessings to you and your family.

May God hold you and your family close to Him now, and give you peace. May He work to reveal His presence and comfort to your SIL. May He use His awesome healing powers and guide the doctors and nurses who will care for her, in Jesus' name.

P.S. How did it get so far advanced without being caught earlier?

I'll have her in my prayers.

Thank you for that beautiful prayer.
Sarah meets with the Oncologist today. I don't even know how to pray for that meeting. She is apparently very groggy and I don't know if she'll understand what he says.

Thank for the words of encouragement. It has become more and more clear that I need to get in touch with Sarah. Because of my brother's alienation from the family, which she supported and went along with, none of us has had any contact with her for years. My brother died of a sudden heart attack in 1994. It's time for us to get back involved, but I am the one most concerned with her salvation. As I mentioned in the opening lines of this thread, my sister, Virginia, does not know the Lord.
I have some tough telephone calls to make today and I'm praying my way into them.
I am the only one in the family with experience in leading people to the Lord. I feel the burden of this and with the Lord's help, I'll have exactly the right words.
Thank you all for your prayers. They mean so much.

That's a good question.
She started complaining about intestinal problems after returning from a visit to her son in Hawaii, Spring break of 2002.
Everytime her son, my nephew, mentioned his Mother still having problems, I suggested that he tell her to go to another Doctor, that the one she was seeing wasn't aggresively pursuing a diagnosis.
And in fact, it was this Doctor who missed the rock-hard tumor in her abdomen to the end! It was another Doctor who gave her a physical examination and found the large mass.
The twin son who lives in Rochester is thinking about suing the Doctor who missed it and never found it, but for now, I'd like the family's energies placed on taking care of their Mother and seeing that she hears the saving words of Christ.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks for the work You are doing in this family. Provide the means, I pray, for them to come together again, in understanding and in love. Cause each to sweep aside any lingering animosity, that they might approach each other with a newness of purpose. May they gather around Sarah in her time of distress ... we lift her up and ask that You take this cancer from her, such is Your healing touch. Clear her mind and her heart to understand the treatment plans ... give her the wisdom to make decisions suitable for her. May she seek Your counsel ... may she seek Your salvation, in the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...

Dear TNT, God can and does work miracles! I have a friend from church that had the stage 4 ovarian and was told she had less than six months. Now, 10 years later, through the power of prayer she is still cancer free. Her doctors' could never explain it, but we know. It is the Lord and it is His timing and His will that matter. Nothing else, not even the top doctors', can guarantee this outcome. My prayers are with you and your family. May God Bless you!

Did you know that some airlines will give you a greatly reduced ticket for this type of family emergencies ..??
Surely his employer would not keep him from being with his sister at this time.
