Stromboli On-line Crater Lake Tour ^

Two pictures from one of my favorite Web sites (continuing an unintended Pacific Northwest theme). The first shows a reconstruction of approximately Mount Mazama would have looked like had it not been for the immense eruption that formed Crater Lake. The second is one of the few I've ever seen that shows the clarity of the lake's water.
The linked Web site takes you to the Stromboli On-Line Crater Lake "virtual tour" site.

I don't think St. Helens is anywheres near done, still lots of clusters of harmonics.
Oregon is due. One of the most seismic areas in the world is at the pacific bottom about a hundred miles off the coast of Oregon. And someone mentioned a while back, a newly discovered bulging at one of the Three Sisters, I've seen that range from a plane, and that area is one rugged h*llhole.
If these guys don't entertain us, we can always count on Yellowstone and Mammoth!

I’ve sat on the rim of Crater Lake, and it’s breathtaking. Some areas of the lake are over a thousand feet deep. The cone is called Wizard Island.
Mount Lassen (to the south)still has steam cauldrons.
Note the bottom photo of the ash pinnacles

I used to live in Susanville. My dad worked on the Lassen National Forest. There are wonderful pictures of the last eruption of Mt. Lassen in the museum in Susanville.

Thanks for the cool photos of Crater Lake. It's a place we never tire of visiting. Did you know that new species of butterflies are still being discovered around there?
