10'-12' high saplings, 6"-10", laden with vines, and brambles growin' between 'em... Sounds like our 'middle forty'. The 'back forty' is just about as bad, but we don't go back there. We call it Mordor, and that's where we're dumping all the branches that we're cutting off the bushes as we take them out. There is a runooff ditch that cuts through our lot, and we set up some 2x6's on some big logs so we could roll the wheelbarrow across it to Mordor. We call it the 'Bridge of Khazad Dum'. Sense a pattern here? ;o)
SSQ wants to get landscape rake for Gimli. You can switch out the backhoe bucket for other tools, and the rake will come in handy pulling out poison ivy vines! We're gonna take it slow cause we don't know how much Gimli can handle.

I started with the two knife collectors and then worked my way up from the lower enlisted personell.I'll send 6 more knives and 6 more snips this week. If somebody doesn't want the snips, I'm sure you can find someone else who will take them.

I'm of the opinion that if you own a dog, you owe it to him to 'take care' of things yourself... go to the vet if you have to but it's your dirty work.The dog is isn't sick. He's normal. He needs a home with someone who is willing to do the minimum for a dog. Every dog given no boundaries would kill chickens or find other mischief, which is why responsible and caring people build a fence or provide at least a little training. I can understand shooting a dog that is a threat and too dangerous to get near. But this dog is neither. If "Junior" is not going to do right by him, I would have taken him to a shelter where he has hopes for a better life.
This is really upsetting and I hope I don't hear more about it.

I'm just having flashbacks. We had a neighbor who had a dog that someone reported was running the heifers that live nearby. Personally, I have a hard time believing it, even now. She was a lazy basset cross that rarely left the porch even to come get petted - I can't see her chasing heifers. Meanwhile, the neighbor who pointed the finger at her had a shepherd cross that ran wild allll the time - used to come up to our house and steal things, too. He destroyed my brother's teddy bear he'd had since he was a baby when John left it unattended for a few minutes, along with other toys and shoes, too.
In any case, the family with the basset cross finally decided to shoot her, because the farmer and the neighbor with the shepherd were hassling them about her all the time, and I guess they were convinced she was sneaking off and getting into trouble. I don't know...there must have been more proof than that, I hope, but as a kid it just seemed wrong in every way. The wife did the shooting...and shot her in the face without killing her. Someone else had to finish the job. I didn't witness the shooting, but even after fifteen years or so, it makes me sick just thinking about it.

For what its worth, I agree. Which is why it's gonna be a long time before I have another dog, most likely. I'd want to be sure they had a run or a fence, and that I'd have time to train them.
