The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

He doesn't want to fool with the cost of upkeep of a car, and if he can get around otherwise, I think that's a wise decision.

Hehehe....what a day! Everone at work is going to be SO jealous when I show up with the sunburn I got from skiing in the sunshine today. It was gorgeous up there! I went to Crystal, which is where I go when I'm skiing the lifts. When I want to do backcountry or a lot of cross-country climbing and mucking around, I go to Mt. Baker. Usually on a day like today, I'll head up to Mt. Baker, just for the scenery, but I didn't have time to go that far away today.
I have a new pair of skis to break in, and I absolutely LOVE them!
I almost feel guilty for having so much fun!

Hi Rosie,
It probably is your exemptions. All you have to do to update it is to fill out a new W-4 form and turn it in to payroll. Something I did years ago when I knew I was going to have extra side income was to add a specific amount to be taken out of my check for income taxes. There's a place to specify that on your W-4 form as well. That was when I had a $300-350/month check that had no withholding taken out at all, combined with my regular 40-hour/week salaried position. It saved my bacon that year. However, if your exemptions are incorrect, that's probably all you have to fix.
I got stuck last year with a $2,000 tax bill that I wasn't expecting due to an inheritance payout that was supposed to have been awarded post-tax. I was selling everything I could get my hands on to pay that one, so I can identify with your dilemma. That's why I saved up extra this year to pay taxes, and then I didn't owe anything but got a refund. Sheesh! Why couldn't that have happened last year, when I really needed the extra boost???
Sometimes, I'm convinced someone is playing around with the tax code in just such a way as to keep us all off-balance all the time.

Mornin' thread. Getting up and out early. Busy day today. At least I woke up early enough to post something! Not like other days lately when I throw on clothes and rush out the door. :-)

Marvelous news, Penny! Thanks for that.
Morning everyone! Am back at work and catching up on all the silliness that happened yesterday. *alas*
Am listening to Irish music on Celtic Grove instead of Mp3.com this year for St. Paddy's.

Good morning! Sunny but cold here. I don't hurt from the workout and the scale was down (I think I weighed myself at the wrong time last time and got a reading that was a little heavy).
Of course, I didn't get to sleep last night even though I went to bed early, so I'm exhausted. Oh well.

So you've decided? It's Colorado State?Probably. 95% probability. I'm still waiting to hear from a couple schools but they're far and away the best offer I've had. Plus I really do like mountains.
Heh, well, I do like roadtrips, and there are hobbitses closer to where I'll be, than my home is...

Good morning!
Got a very busy morning ahead of me, stopping in for a sec to say hello!
I picked a lousy day to cut down on the carbs! LOL

I'm *still* seriesly bummed that Mp3.com is down. I had playlists for every occasion there. This year I'm sullenly trying to find streams to replace them. That Celtic Grove site is pretty nice- a good mix of faithful renditions and some contemporary interpretations of good'ol Irish music. Friday I'll bring in my disks of rowdy Irish drinking songs for the office roomies... ;)

Congrats on the weigh-in. I'm going to start weighing in on Fridays...we'll see how that goes.
I'm not super sore, but did feel a tiny bit stiff right off.
I didn't wanna get up.

Mmmmmm...thin mints. *drool*
With ice cold milk, preferably.
But I'm avoiding sweets, too. Not carbs, per se, but candy and cookies and such.

We've got two St. Patrick's gigs this year, one on the actual day at noon here at the college, and one for the church dinner this coming Sunday. Mostly tunes rather than songs. My tenor banjo will be making its debut! Hope that works out OK...it has a tendency to go out of tune rather easily.
