The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Huh, thanks.

No, Tuesdays often refuse to end. And today I have a ton of work - three different projects. Boss wants me to finish project A, because it's billable, and project B in my nonexistant spare time. And I spend 20 hours a week out on site for project C...

And then I have classes. Only eight more weeks of that, though...

You're going to need a vacation soon.
Good luck, again.

Heh, I had this decade's vacation back in January.

But I am taking a weekend trip out to Colorado, to look at a graduate school, end of the month.

That would have been better sung by the guy who did Smaug's voice in my opinion.

Smaug's voice (done by Richard Boone) and Gollum's voice were done well. Incidentally there's a list of who did the voices in The Hobbit and some of their other work here:

Voice work in the hobbit

It can be kinda funny if you're watching The Hobbit and you think of some of the other voices the actors have done. For instance if you watch the last Planet of the Apes movie (Battle for the Planet of the Apes) the voice of Gandalf is the narrator :)

Dang, now y'all have me looking for LOTR Shrinky Dinks.

Let me know if you find those--I want some, LOL! :)

Okers.
Hopefully someday soon you will be able to have TWO vacations within a decade.

(And while my feverish mind is on it, maybe even THREE vacations within a decade?)

Hmm, he has a green light saber, wants dearly to have a webshooter, has an Eomer action figure.

Is Eomer one of those big 8"/12" figures? I didn't get any of those. I believe the only ones I have are some 2" miniatures of Frodo, Gandalf, and a Ringwraith. By the way, while I was just digging through my attic trying to find them I stumbled across a Hulk Pez candy dispenser--anyone remember Pez? :)

If you have scans of any of that stuff I'd love to see it. My Mom did a copper engraving superimposed over a football drawing I did once which was kind of cool.

Hi, Jen! I'm catching up on posts from while I was away at supper so if you're only around for five minutes I'll probably miss you by the time I post this, but FWIW hi, LOL!

"And I am Gandalf!"

*Cornelius looks mystified.*

Enter Ricardo Montalban from the third/fourth Apes movies, wearing his Mr. Rourke Fantasy Island clothes:

"Welcome to Middle Earth! Please enjoy your stay. But remember if you are captured by the orcs, you must never speak. On this planet, only orcs speak: elves and humans are dumb."

Then the orcs come by, dragging a captive Charleton Heston screaming:

"Take your stinking paws off me, you d*mn*d, dirty orcs!"

The charcoal nude figure study done by, I think, my grandmother in 1939 is in desperate need of stabilising.
I'll see what is stable enough to scan.
(And small enough!)

If it's too big to scan, if you have a digital camera you might take a picture of it and then convert the picture into jpg format with Photoshop (under the "Image" menu if you do "Resize: Image Size" you can change both the size and the format, I believe--had to do this recently with something I was working on).
