Remember driving through construction sites and seeing signs telling you not to transmit on any kind of radio? There's a reason blasters are wary of strong radio signals. ;>)

About a hour ago my next door neighbor brought me over a big bowl of deer stew, he killed a 14 point Buck yesterday and yep, sure was good. He also gave me a big package of deer steaks. How bout them apples.

I'm with you, they sure don't. I think they are looking for our army standing across from another army and the battle will be had by the two, not any more, that is the wars of the past.

The deer steaks I cook are just like round steak, in fact I interchange the two in recipes. Deer is much leaner than beef, so it dries out easily. That's the biggest difference.

I have a slew of them in my freezer right now.

If I was the kind of person to be envious, I would be. I haven't had any venison for a while. Enjoy them, and think about your chef buddy when you cook them up. ;>)

Not this time, he brought it already cooked. We had a discussion on duck hunting and I told him how to clean one in a jiffy, boil some paraffin and dip the duck in it, when it hardens and gets cool, cut it down the breast and pull all the feathers out, including the pin feathers. Just a little 'southern' lazy hunters tip from the south.

You didn't offend me.

I just didn't want to admit I have never been able to handle just ONE girl friend. Seven would kill me for sure.

Hi, Neets -

Just talked to a friend here in a small town in South Carolina where we live. She is generally the most calm person, but she has told me she's more frightened now than ever before in her lifetime.

She is coming to our New Year's Eve party and although we play games, I've assured her we will keep the television on mute in the room where we will play.

I'll be very happy when we have gotten through New Year's; the target that presents itself in NYC is so visible and large. You aren't in NYC, I hope.

Peach,

I can understand what your friend is going through...the threat seems more real than ever.

I am about 55 miles north of NYC...and about 30 miles north of the Indian Point Nucular Reactor.....

So we worry but we realize only so much can be done and they are doing all that they can to make us safe.

Seven would kill me for sure.

No kidding. You'd have to change the interior design of your castle every day of the week.

I don't understand why some guys think the islamist multiple marriage thing is a good idea... Can YOU imagine 4 monther-in-laws? I pass out every time I try. ;>)

Prayer DOES help and I know the administration is doing all it can. I hadn't really realized you were so close to NYC, Neets. Hope you aren't going to be in Times Square.
My friend's 21 year old son is going to be there, and I know she would rather he wasn't, but he's one year into remission of a cancer that all the doctors said would kill him and so he feels, like we all did at that age - immortal.

Stay safe, Neets.

Nah, I am going to have what I hope to be just a quiet evening at home this year.

Trust me that your friends son will be ok....I have been to the city many times and my manchild was just there last weekend. He just turned 21 also, and I think it's an experience they should all partake in...although I can understand her apprehension being NYE.

When you hear about NY's finest (the cops), they are the finest...no exaggeration there.

Perhaps you should mention, um, Dolly to her.

I am not real bright, but if you think I would let my oldest daughter have a say on whom I date, you are a couple of thick volumes shy of understanding a father-daughter relationship between two people with a lot of 'tator klan DNA.

I still can't reconcile myself to the fact that my sons-in-law think they have the right to sleep with my daughters. If it weren't for the grandkids I'd likely kill 'em both.

If things ever do work out for Dolly and me, (it remains to be seen if Dolly can even tolerate me), I think fate acompli would be the best possible course of action.

My youngest Daugher would welcome Dolly with open arms as would son Tom. My oldest daughter is another matter. I keep getting the mental image of a flanking attack using AK 47's and hand grenades some miles north of Akron. Did I mention several mortars and a bomber run at sunrise?

My problem is the two yonger ones would tell the older one, and that is way too dangerous for me to contemplate.

I only fear TWO things on the face of this earth and my oldest Daughter is all THREE of them.

Do you know what the prevailing winds are where you live? I would assume they come from the West. If that is the case, eventhough you are relatively near Indian Point, you wouldn't be effected by an incident of any kind. I am about 60 miles South of the Palo NR in Iowa. It never crosses my mind that I am in danger. Of more concern to me is wind drift from the old SAC facility in Omaha or a strike on the communications hub at Camp Dodge north of Des Moines.

I'm baaaaack too! :)

Thanks for all the prayers...!!!

I woke up this AM--(6 o'clock) just hoping/praying my muscles had relaxed enough for the car trip and plane trip.

Praise God....they had!
I wasn't about to do handstands or lift a suitcase, but I could at least manage to shower and dress and walk and move!!

Thanks again!!!

It was a harrowing trip home.....

As we were driving our rental car on a very flat stretch of Texas highway about 9:30AM......we were heading ??? whichever one heads to get to Houston, and there was a grassy median and a two lane heading in the opposite direction.

All of a sudden my husband yelled and pulled the car over on the shoulder.

When he yelled, I looked up and saw a car literally roll over and flip into the ditch.

Hubby said the car had rolled half a dozen times, and I only saw the last roll!!

We immediately pulled out our cellphone, but had no idea where we were.......somewhere on a lonely stretch between Austin and Houston.

But thankfully, some cars, trucks responded faster than even we had, and within seconds 8 or more folks were out and over to the scene, with cell phones and stuff.
I just kept praying and praying!!

Amazingly, the car landed upright, and the roof wasn't even dented!...(had to be guardian angels)

A young boy, maybe 10 or 12 managed to get out of the car, although limping badly.

An adult also got out, as far as I could tell, he seemed fine.

I don't know how anyone could have survived flipping along the highway half a dozen times, so it had to be miraculous.

We felt sure all the folks responding were sufficient, and eventually went ahead so we wouldn't miss our plane.

We don't know if a tire popped, or someone lost control....hubby didn't actually see the initial beginning of the accident.....unreal....

As it was, Houston airport was as chaotic and full of passengers as much as Orlando....

...both airports intense with searching, detaining, x-raying, etc.

I stupidly left a baggie with nailclippers and a small cuticle scissor in my carrry-on, and boy they spotted it pronto, and called me out of line, and the guy opened my bag and confiscated it.

I didn't mind....was just embarrassed that I left it.

Hubby had his suitcase randomly searched, we discovered, when we claimed it at the Orlando airport...

They sealed it with special tape, letting him know it was searched....(I believe his PDA, or some such electronic gadgetry was in it, plus my hairdryer.)

Our plane was full....totally full....and just as we were ready to 'take off'.....the pilot came on board to let us know that the fuel tank or gas nozzle cap or some such thing was open......

He said another plane spotted it, and even though it wasn't dangerous, if we took off without closing the 'door', it was damage the plane.

So that bounced us to the back of the airplane line, while they fixed the problem.

It was strange, when the pilot finished explaining to us what was wrong.....the folks on board became very very quiet.....almost like no one was breathing.

I don't know if they all wondered if someone had tampered with it or what, but it sure was uppermost in my mind.

Probably just a small human error, because we took off 30 minutes later.

I can tell you this.....folks took President Bush's plea to 'go about your plans as usual'.....because the airports are chock-a-block.

I will write more later......so very tired now....

Thanks again for prayers!

Having a stepdaughter who scares me made me relate to your post.

We were married for exactly 9 months when my husbands two kids, 13 and 14, (girl and boy)came to live with us. Very intimidating.

Among our friends who have remarried, it's generally been the girls who have a difficult time accepting the new woman in their father's lives.

Yes, but it would get her off your back for a little while. Until she decided to have Dolly investigated.

I sensed that was a problem, but thought you should state it before we could address it.

Acknowledging a problem is the first step in overcoming it. Only you know if it is worth the effort, and what the cost of winning the battle would be.
