This is not a goodbye opus - instead, this is a "I'll see you around but not as much" type of opus.
As some of you read in a post earlier this month, I'm a new homeowner. Part of becoming a new homeowner is, by necessity, living on a tighter budget. Part of that budget, by necessity, is having to choose between an internet connection or having gasoline for the car. As much as I like being able to connect to the internet, I like being able to drive to work even more. So, I'll be foregoing an internet connection for awhile, at least until the budget is stabilized, the emergency fund is replenished, and everything is good to go.
I don't get to connect at work unless I use the lobby computers, and I don't do that a whole lot. I'll be in now and again to see what's going on, say hello, and make the occasional smart ass remark. I've enjoyed the three years I've been on here, and I've learned a lot.
What have I learned? I learned that because I don't make a whole lot of money that I should be a democrat - according to the democrats, that is. But I've also learned (actually, I knew this already) that I don't like the democrats or what they stand for, and that because I've got more than three functioning brain cells, I should be a Republican.
My ten year old daughter is a little shocked - "We won't have the internet at the new house?" How will she connect to Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network online? Thankfully - those are the only two sites that she goes to - yes, I do monitor where she goes and what she does.
I love you folks, and while I haven't posted a whole lot here lately, I have been reading - and as always, I've enjoyed what I've read. I've made a lot of good friends here, and I'll be deeply saddened at not being able to see them as often as before.
And, dear lady, you know who you are, I'm sorry that it didn't go better between us - who knows what could have been?

You all have been a blessing to me, and to my small family (my daughter and myself). I knew that no matter what was happening in our lives, I could come here and ask a question and knew that I would have a response. Thank you all for being the wonderful people that you are.

I'm reading your opus and thinking one thing (although I don't know you well, I've seen you on various threads) -- PUBLIC LIBRARY! Come back soon, and often -- please?
Your KY neighbor,
Kimmie

Congrats on the new home TB! You will most certainly be missed...... definitely take the advice given about the public library - I think you have to hit someone over the head to make them get off line so you can have a turn, but what the heck! lol
Keep in touch - You're one of the good guys -

Wal-mart has a cheap internet hookup; it's @$10-$15 a month, if I recall correctly.

Hey man! You, too?
internet connection or having gasoline for the car
I think you hit on Al Gore's intent he had by creating the internet.
Been fun Bob, see ya 'round...

Yep, I use the wal-mart connect. It's 9.99 a month for unlimited access and the service here is pretty decent. Give it a try before you cancel internet connection altogether.

Bellsouth offers dial-up for that much as well I believe if you have the complete choice option.

Good luck in your new home. I hope everything stabilizes for you soon.
Drop in when you can, we'll all still be here.

If you were talking to me, Thanks, but I've had problems with bellsouth internet service here when I had it before. Got very slow connections and only one # to dial into, so if there was any problem I was stuck. With the wal mart I have 4 # to call that are all local and spread out in different parts of town so that I can usually always get connected.

Juno gives you ten free hours a month. I know it isn't much but you can at least stop by to say hi.
Best of luck

Ok, Walmart AFAIK uses AOL's system.

Don't forget to try the Library or a local community college. The latter may allow you to log-on as a guest.
