This has been a terrible week. Heavy duty prayers are needed for all the bad news we have had.

What a horrifying thing to witness, Miss Marple. Through some miracle, may the injured husband and wife make a full recovery.

Having been pretty much out of the news loop for a few days, I was horrified to just hear about Michael Isakoff from Time magazine losing a hand and receiving other serious injuries to his chest and arm by deflecting a grenade and thus saving the lives of soldiers. May God comfort him through his rehabilitation and lifelong disability.

I seem to recall, an episode, promulgated into the mainstream, by Democrat Party political operatives (read liberal media hacks) concerning an incident involving Laura Bush, when she was a teen, and had a horrific traffic accident.

Somehow, that episode, was brought into the public forum, in order to disrupt the campaign of George Bush, as he was running for president. Likely the circumstances of the 2 unrelated incidents (last night, and some 40 years ago) were not similar. LTSOAA, and all that, but they (Dems) still tried to make it an issue. That is what Democrats do when it is not involving their own. They minimize facts as they please, and overblow certain issues, when it suits them. This is the new definition of objective journalism. Whatever they think, is what is so!

You know their dismissing of the seriousness of one of their own drunken married Senators on a lonely remote road late at night with a single girl, abandoned in the darkness, of a disabled, water laden vehicle, after said girl being impeded by a few doses of alcoholic beverages under the auspices of that powerful politician, related to an American icon of incredible stature, could not escape, and save her own life. That was nothing!

I know nothing of that poor Indiana girl (from last nights incident) who's life is not likely to be a coveted thing by many. Yet still, there is always the possibilty of redemption. My God, I could have slammed into a snow shoveler or Pedestrian myself just a few short days ago. I was simply a dust mote, trapped in a gale wind, and forces of nature and physics, for an instant, or so it seems.

I grieve for the victims, and I feel bad for the parents of that reckless driver. That young girl, is about to become aware of the harsh reality, of her having to own up to her responsibilties, and the price that should be paid, for her recklessness. Driving, is a serious privilage, which requires, awesome responsibility, and cognizance of the surroundings. Good driving is something that is simply not being taught in American Driving Schools. I have been around a bit. I know, because, I see a lot of problems. and I work in the Transportation, and Physical Distribution Industry. The DOT, has a lot of problems to contend with, and bad driving, is more endemic than most would be willing to readily acknowledge.

I drove big rigs in Europe for years. I have watched drivers for years. Americans are not very good at driving generally speaking. The Germans are much better at it. That is in my view, because, they mostly adhere to the rules of the road. Some cynics might suggest that Germans drive on the Autobahns without the restriction of speed limits, and so rules do not exist there. That would be a silly argument. The speed limits in Germany are a serious concern. That would be a cynical outlook indeed. The Autobahn, is just a part of the road sytem over there. Germans, obey traffic rules, universally, in my experience. The driving rules there, are adhered to closely, by most.

Americans, simply do not obey traffic laws. The advent of the cell phone, has greatly contributed to the poor driving in this country.

Anyhow, this episode of reckless driving, and a fleeing from responsibility, is all around, a sad thing! I feel terrible about the entire matter.

Happy Birthday, Molly. I almost missed it. You deserve much better than this simple birthday wish, but I'm afraid it's all I have for you this evening. How about a birthday prayer to go with it?
Lord, please shower your love and blessings upon this sister who means so much to so many people here. Keep her love tank full and let her reflect Your grace even more in the coming year. Amen.

Hi John. Today I spent time trying to chase down the most economical way for me to make my car safe and legal again. (A brick mailbox jumped out in front of me on Saturday.) Ouch! It looks like $500 to $800 just to keep it ugly, but legal. I've already had to spend $400 to have the guy's mailbox rebuilt.

sorry about your mishap. Those dargond mailboxes just jump out at the most inopportune times, don't they?
