She would only carry the fringe and the idiots .... Yeah, just like Bill Clinton did.
Rudy Giulianni might be able to take her, if the economy, war and everything are going well, but no one with less name recognition or 'star power' has a hope.
We are a very bland party. There are no 'hot' Republicans in Congress or governors offices, no 'stars' known nation wide.
Zell Miller might be able to change party and take her, but what does it say about us that we would have to look outside for a candidate?
If your guy gets out and worksd hard at becomming known, he might be able to run in 2016.

"Rudy Giulianni might be able to take her" Not a chance. The conservative base would never tolerate a pro-abortion candidate and the RNC knows it. Putting forth a social liberal as a Republican candidate might work for a Californa governor's race, but it would be signing a political death warrant on a presedential candidate.

Not a chance. The conservative base would never tolerate a pro-abortion candidate and the RNC knows it. Your choice is gonna be to swallow Giuliannis position on abortion, or to swallow all of Hillaries views on everything, because the bullpen is empty. Any other pubbie would be lucky to carry 10 states against her.
We spend so much time on FR we forget how very popular she still is. She is the most admired woman in the US, beating out Oprah and Laura Bush. There is no way we can beat her without a candidate who can energize the non republican middle of the road voter to get off his ass and go vote because they really admire the candidate. There is no other Republican that the non republican middle of the road voter has even heard of.

Just getting on..interesting thought MO. I think too that Dean is so full of himself that he might just run as a 3rd party candidate. I heard on the news yesterday that he is saying that if he does not get the dems nod that none of his supporters will vote in the election!

"She is the most admired woman in the US, beating out Oprah and Laura Bush." Hogwash. Those polls say what they want them to say. There are an awful lot of Republicans who would get out and vote just to vote against Hillary, no matter who she was running against. For that matter, there are a lot of old-time RAT voters who will vote against her, not to support the Republican candidate, but because her negatives are still very high and there are a lot of democRATs that don't want to see the Clintons back in the White House. they may not admit it publicly, but they are an embarassment to many individual voters. I won't underestimate her, but I won't give her too much credit either. Even a dragon has a weak spot that if hit will bring him down. We need to focus on finding her weak spot and exploiting it.

It would be a fascinating genetic experiment to take the lot of them and confine them to an island somewhere. It has all the makings of a B-movie plot device. What a great idea for a reality TV show!
(Move them over there, lose money on the show, and not be able to pick them up...)

We had also on the local news of two cable people in New Jersey had tied a kitten on the back of a truck and after they could not tell if the Kitten was M/F.
The Cable co Supended them until future notice now I hear they won't be fired. Some how I think consumer should complain.
What I don't like about local news is that the reporter is suppose to like pets he tells the story in such a way to get listeners it makes me sick.
I truly cry when I see the down cows and how they are treated. I think like a a horse they should be shot put out of misery.
The greed is so great they have put them in the food chain which I can't understand.
I am always thankful for meat I eat but I would never ignore or cause pain.

Well, in NJ a couple years back a farmer beat that rabid rat to death with a broomstick and they were going to hang him out to dry over it.
(After all, it was cruelty to an animal.)
Well, the newsies initially played it up as if the heroic rabid rat was defending itself from the evil encroachment of the farmer. (But not in those words. It was more like "feel sorry for the poor rat.")
When the public outcry got loud enough, they changed their tune and attempted to spin their previous reports to fit their new position.
The farmer was let go, but told that they'd "be keeping an eye on him."

I don't know how a person can live their life like that, running around cowering like a neurotic chihuahua. Why is it so hard to accept Pup for what he is?
Is that too much to ask, simple forbearance for a cross dressing dog?

He could move to SF and work for the city. It's a covered benefit... Pup's constant reminder to you that you are funding his retirement is nothing but a self-reminder of his Bay Area operation and prior experience in these matters.
Proof of life from his point of view......it reminds him of his great prior experiences with the Bay Bombers.....and how they help him today.

I will forgive your lack of fidelity and friendship with the following bit of true information on this poll:
Hillary polled 16% on who was the most popular woman in America. Yes, she was first.....on that question.....at 16%.
What do you suppose the percentage would be if the question was who is the most unpopular woman in America?

Yes, I know.
The press, though, probably won't be as 'frantic' over this one as they were over the 'pooor defenswess rat'.
Expect a cloud of silence in the center of a vacuum of thought from them.
And the reporter probably thinks it's just great that the kitten was treated that way, because it's 'news'.
Cripes I hate reporters.

"What do you suppose the percentage would be if the question was who is the most unpopular woman in America?" I don't think I need to answer that. You already know who would win.

It's too early to say whether she will be able to hold onto the Demo party in 08. She seems positioned well now for the Dems, but she has to overcome a huge dislikability factor with the swing voter.
And total disdain from 40% of the electorate.
but, yes, it will be tough for us if someone doesn't come up who is very charismatic and capable on their feet.

Sorry to continue, cause I know your post is very true about who is waiting for us in 08.
Their are some huge cracks in the Dem party. The Dean war is just beginning, and it's not gonna be pretty for a lot of reasons. I'm not sure she will be able to be the healer and re-take the mantle.
Heaven help us if she succeeds in actually putting the party together without a huge fight.
The best news I see is that she is really not nearly as skillfull in playing to mid-America as Slick was, no...she's actually bad at it so far, and I'm not sure mid-America is ready to be fooled by a second Clinton pretending to be conservative.
