Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

I saw the guy that runs that website on one of the cable channels last week. He appears to have been following these leads since 9-11. I hope most of what he has listed is what they call urban legend, but these days you never know.

I have always thought LV would be a target since the original bunch met there. It's such a melting pot of people from everywhere they could blend in very well.

I'm wondering about LA since it's so spread out. What would they choose for a target there?

Considering that I live here, I can think of a number of targets, everything from Long Beach port -- a major commerce area, to downtown LA, to the Rose Bowl and Rose Parade in Pasadena on New Year's Day.

My personal pick from AQ's point of view for max terror in LA would be the Rose Bowl and Rose parade, because it's televised and watched all around the world.

Reference statements in that LONG post to: a piece of paper referring to a handheld Global Positioning System receiver and a camcorder; software that could be used to review pilot procedures for the Boeing 747 Model 400; a hand-held aviation radio.

Layoutguru posted a link showing the towers being hit filmed from under a bridge.

I saw a rumor here and there insinuating Atta is still alive.

How does this radio equipment work? Does that mean the planes could have been pilotted from the handhelds? Some? A little? A lot? Totally?

Who was under the bridge filming these planes hitting?

Why have we not heard more about the post planes hitting explosions from the ground? Were these done by remote control? Were those bombs on timer?

And I also just remembered the stolen plane in Africa, where the remarkable part was that it had extra fuel tanks, so it could fly long distances without refueling.

Was it stolen for parts or to make a flying bomb?

The story began May 25, when two men climbed aboard an idle cargo jet in Angola and flew off into the African sky. The jet has not been seen since.

When the plane, with tail number N844AA, left Luanda airport May 25, the transponder was turned off, so the plane's position could not be monitored by air-traffic control.

Worse yet, the missing 727 cargo jet had been converted into a fuel tanker, making it highly desirable as a "flying bomb."

An American named Ben Padilla (NOT the same guy, as the one who is being held for attempting to build a dirty bomb) approached authorities a month before the plane disappeared, saying the owner wanted to take the plane out of Angola. Padilla was asked for $50,000 in fees accumulated during the year the plane sat in Angola. Padilla was one of the two men later seen boarding the plane just before it took off.

According to Padilla's family in Florida, he was hired to repossess the jet after Air Angola failed to make lease payments.

His sister, Benita Padilla-Kirkland, says she feared the plane had crashed or Padilla, 51, was being held against his will.

That would not be anything new.

NASA's Columbia Accident Investigation Board was running any where from a few days to a few weeks behind our thread on the Columbia Accident. Our ragtag team of ex-shuttle/pvt contractor/NASA guys was able to figure out the genesis of the problem within about 3 hours of the incident, though it took us another 3 months to "keep an eye on" the stories coming out of CAIB.

The POTUS trip to Baghdad got broken here first, and the moderators pulled it to protect the safety of the POTUS.

Free Republic is great, if the moderators let the readers do their thing (and not pull threads like what happened this AM to my attempt to transcribe the Ridge press conf).

I have another comment on this matter.

While I know that some of you take Daleel very seriously (as did I), he plain missed during the end of Ramadan. His insinuations to get out of NYC, DC, and LA never panned out. So, unless something happens against our nation in the next few weeks, I'll pretty much assign him to the "nut case" file.

I do appreciate the extensive research and work being done by FR readers on this thread. I learn more here than via the networks or print journalists.

Regarding the reasons for this type of speculation, I would caution readers that excessive worry on this subject actually gives the terrorist their goal (a terrorized public sleeps less, spends less, and depresses the economy).

So, do not give these terrorists their goal.
