I think that most people who read Hot Air are appalled by the subset of the population that has embraced Lindsay Clancy as a cultural hero.
For most of us, the fact that Clancy clearly was having trouble with her mental health may help explain how she decided to kill her children, but for nobody I know does that excuse the fact that she chose to respond to her despair by killing her own children.
I can understand, at some level, the feeling of empathy for Clancy's struggles; I cannot and will never understand turning her into a hero. There is nothing heroic about killing children, especially one's own. It ranks up there as the most, or at least one of the most, horrific betrayals a person can make.
Women have contributed over a million dollars to Clancy's parents to help fund her defense, lined roadways to cheer her on, and even concocted bizarre conspiracy theories to explain why everything is her husband's fault, despite Clancy never having denied strangling her own children.
It's demonic.

Not surprised at all if you follow social media and see how incredibly narcissistic many women are today. A constant flow of self-indulgence, telling each other how incredibly great they are, all mixed in with condemnation for the unnamed villains who dare to cast any shade on them. Lots of drinking and loud inappropriate behavior at bars. And these are moms!
It’s a natural result of people celebrating “my mental health”. All the cool kids have a mental illness now. They quit their jobs because of “my mental health”. Adults walking around with plushies is the new fashion statement.
Even that's going too far. Lots of people have dealt with depression, bipolar disorder, etc, and the overwhelming majority of them are not violent or dangerous towards anyone else. All "empathy" vanishes when your mental illness becomes someone else's problem.
When on the job market, feminists are "strong, empowered people". When in a courtroom, they are poor, innocent, and powerless victims of "patriarchy". Very much the same games that racial minorities like to play.
I heard someone on the radio call this the O J Trial for crazy liberal white women.
Perverse people have always idolized killers.
From Bonnie and Clyde to Luigi Mangione and now to Clancy.

Most women today are to be avoided. It’s a heartbreaking reality for all of us. Particularly I would say those of us who knew a different time.
I was recently in the midst of scores of younger (20’s/30’s) women at a very large, very nice wedding. Good Lord. I talked to dozens of them (yes), and only one seemed normal to me. The rest were borderline hysterical, unable to function in a mixed social setting. Most of them were obnoxiously loud, and some were just fine with getting drunk on such an occasion. I also serve on various appointed and volunteer panels, most of which are majority female. They largely behave as if they are in Junior High School, with less personal insight and intellectual horsepower than my cat. I have more to say on the subject, but it’s already been said a million times, so will not. It’s just a very said situation, again for everyone.
When I hear the word “Empathy”, that’s when I reach for my revolver.
This seems to be hardening into a movement, a new cause, a new category of victimology, which means that out of these crowds will come some permanent activists and lawyer members, and probably an organization of some sort.
I wonder how long this one will last and add to the ravenous wolf causes and organizations tearing at sanity and civilization.
