The leader of a moderate Democrat group said members are gearing up for a battle with democratic socialists who may try to capture the presidential nomination in 2028, the New York Times (NYT) reported Thursday.
Some Democrats, including Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), have been warning against the rising influence of socialists and communists in the Democrat Party, Breitbart News reported Wednesday.
Indeed, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed beat establishment Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) in Tuesday’s primary in Michigan, where “the radical transformation of the Democratic Party is center stage,” Breitbart News said Wednesday:
El-Sayed, a public health official and former failed candidate for governor in 2018, delivered the most high-profile win to date for the movement increasingly calling the shots in Democrat politics. While he is not a formal member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the ascendant power center of left-wing American politics, elected officials identifying as democratic socialists, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), campaigned hard for him over several months leading up to the August primary.
According to the Times article:
“We are preparing for the next war that is coming,” said Jonathan Cowan, the president of Third Way, a leading centrist Democratic group, revealing to The New York Times a new $15 million effort between now and 2028 to discredit democratic socialism.
Dr. El-Sayed’s win was not the blowout that some pre-election polls had predicted. But his narrow nomination in one of the country’s signature swing states still represented a critical moment for the party’s middle, which had previously sought to cast the far left’s successes as contained within the country’s most urban and liberal corridors.
Their fear: Dr. El-Sayed was paving a path for a progressive to seize the party’s presidential nomination in 2028 — and then go on to lose...

Fetterman’s got guts. But he’s probably the only “moderate” Democrat who does. So I predict the radicals will win this fight.
Ah, but there is a wild card. It’s the big donors. Will they back popular D’s, even if they are radicals? Or will they be a bit more discerning?
Moderate Democrats are already gone and invaded the GOP. Take Thune and the Turtle for example. They would be mainstream Donkeys 25 years ago.
The war in the Democratic Party is between open Commies and closet Commies that want to continue the charade.

First off democrats were not moderate to begin with.
And no democrat “moderates” are going to win this fight.
I’m hoping for a schism in the Democrat Party that cannot be healed............
There is one good thing about this. The average voter is hearing that democrats have gone communist.
There are no moderates left in their party............
This is interesting in a sad way. When you and I grew up, politics stopped at waters edge. We were all Americans (least mostly) when it came to foreign policy, and the domestic differences had to do with bigger vs smaller government. Blue dog democrats were the norm in the South, and the idea of hating America was not tolerated by either side.
I said some 20+ years ago on this forum that it would be better if we had healthy parties, regardless of whether you were R or D. An unhealthy party, or parties, is just bad news for the nation and the people. Since then, the Republicans have had ups and downs but really havent changed much. On the other hand, the Dem party, instead of finding a way to get healthy, has psychotically driven off the cliff and they want to drag the rest of us with them.
The Democrat Party has been invaded and taken over by foreigners who have no allegiance to America at all...........

In fact, one of the reasons we are seeing all of this is power vacuum in the Democratic Party after Pelosi's tenure.
Why was Pelosi so tough with Trump but not with the socialist wing of her party? She could have nipped this in the bud years ago.

Good for them, but the truth is, and we as Americans should keep in min:
It is easier to avoid tyranny by fighting it before it attains power than it is to fight your way out from under it after that tyranny obtains power.
The Left opened the door and invited them in. They have obtained power in the Democrat Party.
It is the job of the rest of us to fight them now....because the Democrats are powerless to stop the takeover their party now.
