Ensuring that Mail-in Ballots Go to Registered Voters [semi-satire]

In an effort to reduce fraud via mail-in ballots, President Trump has directed Postmaster General David Steiner to refuse to deliver mailed ballots in states that refuse to submit voter registration data to the federal government. During a Senate hearing testimony, Steiner pointed out that "a super-majority of registered voters want ballots to be cast only by US citizens. The only way to fulfill this mandate is to verify that every person who casts a ballot is a citizen. Folks who vote in-person can easily show a photo ID that verifies they are a person registered to vote. Folks who vote by mail need to be similarly verified. The federal government has a database that shows the citizenship status of every person. We can check this against each state's voter rolls."

Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich) insisted that "the conduct of elections is a responsibility delegated to the states by the US Constitution. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say the Post Office has a role in this process. Clearly President Trump is usurping authority he does not legally possess."

Steiner pointed out that "the Constitution obligates the federal government to ensure that every state has a republican form of government. This requires that every state ensure that only those legally entitled to vote are allow to cast ballots. States that refuse to ensure this are not republican forms of government. Hiding their voter rolls allows states to corrupt the process. The boxes of mailed ballots that arrive in volume after the polls close on election day with no verified ID dilute the legitimate votes of living registered citizens."

Peters rejected Steiner's argument, saying "it seems to me that keeping state voter registration rolls secret will preserve the integrity of the voting rolls. If no one but state and local government knows who is validly registered no one will have the information needed to challenge the announced election outcomes. No one would have the evidence needed to prove those results are wrong. We would reduce litigation expenses and restore the general public's confidence in the reported outcomes if every step in the process is kept secret."

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif) backed up Peters and added "the adoption of the Tenth Amendment canceled the federal government's responsibility to guarantee a republican form of government for every state. Under this Amendment every state has the right to conduct its elections however it sees fit. If a state chooses not to remove registrations for voters who have died or moved out of state, that is their prerogative. If a state chooses to outlaw voter ID, that is their prerogative. If a state chooses to be sloppy or intentionally allow ballots to be cast by non-citizens, that is also their prerogative. In California we have passed laws that allow all of these procedures. The fact is, the Tenth Amendment trumps all arguments against whatever a state may do no matter how corrupt it may seem. Because each state makes its own laws whatever we do is by definition legal, and therefore, not corrupt."

While I don’t doubt Gov. Gavin Newsom believes this and is a snake.

I’m having difficulty finding the source for his quotation.

In 2020 I lived in Far SW East Point, Fulton County, GA. The house next to me was vacant. unsolicited ballots were mailed and delivered by USPS to the vacant house next to me, to the former resident of my house, and to me although I did not request a mail in ballot.

The next day a nice lady rang my doorbell and offered to “take care” of my ballot for me. I declined. The other ballots disappeared. I do not know how. I do not know if the nice lady was a vote harvester or what.

These are only some possibilities. ALL possibilities need
to be considered. The REAL imperfect WORLD needs to be considered.
