BLUF: Congress is quietly moving beyond supporting Israel and toward legally embedding Israel into America’s defense and intelligence architecture. Through Section 224 of the FY27 NDAA and Section 622 of the Senate Intelligence Authorization Act, lawmakers are creating institutional ties that future presidents may find difficult to unwind. The real issue is not intelligence sharing itself—which already exists—but whether Congress should permanently codify a strategic relationship that previous administrations deliberately kept flexible. As younger Americans increasingly question traditional U.S.-Israel policies, these measures appear designed to ensure that future political shifts cannot fundamentally alter the partnership.
(snip)
US intelligence, when dealing with Israel, engages in transactional behavior. One of the most important functions of US intelligence vetting processes is to meticulously scrub or filter raw data–notably data concerning US citizens before handing it over to Israeli intelligence partners.
That’s because Washington’s spy agencies historically fear that the Israelis will have zero compunction in leveraging any intelligence they may receive about American citizens and turning it back on the Americans in some way.
(snip)
Between Section 224 and Section 622, ending foreign aid to Israel will be meaningless if these two measures become law. Israel will be fully integrated into America’s defense, industrial, and intelligence bases by act of Congress, meaning that only a future Congress could undo it…and, given how hard it is to get Congress to do anything–especially reversing its previous laws–it is unlikely any significant change would happen.

I'm not anti-Israel, but this is unacceptable.
We give others similar intel but I’m not sure we want to continue doing that with anyone.
Well Isreal Inte is a lot better than USA intel. They have actual agents that do stuff. And not just a bunch of computer hackers.
Hey keyword coward, why not show yourself?
No
What is being proposed is only going to exacerbate antisemitism.
USS Liberty.
And why exactly are the intel agencies, who purportedly work for us, spying on us instead of other countries?
No way
For the same reason the Starmer government is clamping down on the protesters in Northern Ireland who are outraged at a 'migrant' trying to behead a native.
In other words, it tells you who it is those agencies consider their true enemy.
“… The real issue is not intelligence sharing itself—which already exists—but whether Congress should permanently codify a strategic relationship that previous administrations deliberately kept flexible….”

Absolutely…. let’s not encase ourselves in “concrete” let’s keep ourselves flexible to be free to deals with things in a way that will benefit America.
Almost all Israeli intelligence work concerns the Levant, almost none of US intelligence work does.
Why? Israel mainly faces nearby threats.
US intelligence work is mainly technology development (China, Russia), North Korea, and combat support (i.e. Ukraine, Iran) focused.
There’s little need to integrate them. Besides, intelligence is always need to know.
This is more than unacceptable it’s downright insane not to mention treasonous. Everyone who voted for it needs to be removed from office.
Bad idea - bad for us, bad for Israel. We are too sovereign nations with separate foreign policies. A lot of the time those policies coincide, but that may not always be the case and we cannot have a foreign nation’s intelligence apparatus embedded into our own. This needs to get shot down, fast.
Agree strongly
Follow the money

Like Meth for you.
You’ll be hyperventilating for days.
Thank you for posting. ITA This is completely, wholly unacceptable. And yes, the moment you point out how inappropriate this maneuver is, the bellicose cry of anti-semitism rises to shut down criticism. We are not joined to Israel.
AIPAC campaign contributions. Cui bono from this bill? Israel. Who is damaged by this bill? Average law-abiding US citizens. US intel is a pack of psycopathic perverts who collect a paycheck invading your privacy, like inside your home, in your bathroom, in your bedroom with your wife. Remember 2016 when the General visited then candidate D. Trump at his residence in Trump Towers... Bad enough our own, I do not want all our personal privacy handed to Israel or anywhere else.
