Ever since his firing from 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley has been on a personal press tour, bellyaching about CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss wrecking - in his belief - one of the last bastions of truth in the news media.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
From the infamous Rathergate - where former CBS News anchor Dan Rather and producer Mary Mapes used forged documents in a hit piece about President George W. Bush’s National Guard Service to correspondent Lesley Stahl dismissing President Donald Trump on Hunter Biden’s laptop – even editing out his responses – the long-running show has abandoned journalistic ethics when it comes to covering conservatives and Republicans.
On the flipside, it’s run cover and offered softball coverage for Democrats like President Barack Obama, both Bill and Hillary Clinton, and used deceptive editing tactics to cover up former Vice President Kamala Harris’s gaffes.
NewsBusters Executive Editor Tim Graham put it best in this 2024 column: “Nobody in TV news has been more overpraised than 60 Minutes. This horde of urbane leftist snobs has concocted syrupy minutes for Democrats (especially Barack Obama) and salty minutes for Republicans (especially Trump).”
What follows is just a sampling of leftist agenda (via the MRC archives) forwarded by Pelley and his fellow 60 Minutes blabbers Lesley Stahl, Morley Safer, Mike Wallace and Andy Rooney:

The gall of these people.
Well, they’re really no different than those big whoop senators who keep going back until they’re in their 80s and 90s because they think the world just can’t get along without their wisdom.
Anyway, get over yourself Scott. You’re not that important.
It was interesting in the early days primarily because of its format. But I stopped watching at least forty years ago when it became so glaringly partisan. Whether or not the program survives seems irrelevant. In fact, I hope it fails because of the damage it has done.
60 Minutes used to be a trustworthy source of information. Today, 60 Minutes is little more than a Democrat newsletter in video format. I refuse to watch it.
James O’Keefe is the only one doing the kind of risky news gathering 60 only rarely did, and he seems to find 100% liberals always in the wrong.
You could also document how very virulently anti-gun and anti Second Amendment 60 Minutes is with their various related articles over the years.
60 Minutes has been disingenuous and lied through out their broadcasts.
I never watched it much.
But saw a commercial for a segment months ago about the Israelis and the exploding pagers.
It was quite informative and political free.
That was the last time.
“60 Minutes used to be a trustworthy source of information.”
When was that? In my 82 years the media has always been biased. Sometimes I like the bias. Some of the time I don’t care as it is not “my” issue. Sometimes I agree with the bias.
I remember 60 minutes when I first came back from Vietnam. Very biased, both about Vietnam, and about domestic issues.
60 minutes was not alone in its bias.
I remember watching in the 70’s when they would present both sides of an issue and then stop reporting. You decided which side was right with your own understanding of the facts presented. I also enjoyed Andi Rooney’s closing comments on each broadcast. In my mind, it’s so biased now that I don’t even bother watching anymore.
“Ever since his firing from 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley has been on a personal press tour, bellyaching about CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss wrecking - in his belief - one of the last bastions of truth in the news media.” You should be eligible for unemployment insurance Steve.
really, it’s the producers that select and produce the fake stories ...nothing changes until ALL of the 60 minutes producers are replaced ... the newsreaders just read what the producers write for them to read ...
On the flipside indeed all left.
Overview of the 60 Minutes Audi Story
In 1986, CBS's 60 Minutes aired a segment titled "Out of Control," which focused on the Audi 5000 and alleged issues of unintended acceleration. The segment featured dramatic visuals, including footage of an Audi lurching forward while the driver claimed to have their foot on the brake.
Key Points of the Segment
Accusations: The segment suggested that the Audi 5000 had a dangerous propensity to accelerate unexpectedly, leading to numerous accidents.
Visual Evidence: The show presented a doctored video where an Audi appeared to accelerate on its own. This was achieved by modifying the car's transmission, which was not disclosed to viewers.
Impact on Audi: Following the broadcast, Audi's sales in the U.S. plummeted significantly, with reports indicating a drop of over 60%. The company faced numerous lawsuits and a tarnished reputation.
Aftermath and Findings
... Long-term Effects: Audi struggled to recover from the negative publicity for years, with sales not returning to pre-1986 levels until much later.
Lack of Apology: Despite the findings, 60 Minutes did not issue a formal apology or acknowledgment of the misleading nature of the segment...
Pelly is a cry baby!
Had a friend that got a great deal on a used Audi because the owner became terrified of it, due to that report. To top it off, he did his own repairs and his cousin worked at an auto parts store. He always got VW parts that were about 20 % less for the same item, and was the beneficiary of his cousin’s employee discount.
Scott Pelley is a egotistical asshole. Always was, always will be.
