Elon just created 4,400 millionaires in a single day.
400 of them are now worth over $100 million.
These aren't VCs. They're SpaceX employees, and the list includes welders, technicians, and cafeteria staff, because for two decades the company paid every level of the workforce in stock instead of higher salaries.
Juan Hernandez immigrated from Mexico and took a $28 an hour contractor welding job in 2015. He says he didn't even know what SpaceX was. The company gave him a $10,000 equity grant and let him buy more shares through payroll deductions. That stake is now worth $880,000.
Trevor Hise's parents wanted him to take a stable job at General Electric. He picked SpaceX instead, stayed 12 years, and accumulated over 100,000 shares. At the $135 listing price that's $13.5 million. He's 37 and semiretired. His words: "The magnitude of this has been ridiculous."
The most telling detail came before the listing. Over 100 employees quietly banded together and negotiated a group wealth management deal covering up to $5 billion, because none of them had ever needed a wealth manager before.
Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.

BOOM!
HOORAY Elon!
Leftists in the Democrat Party are going to be angry. Uppity proletariat scum! Elon Musk likes Trump! This is all terrible!
Remember that company several years ago where the owner announced everyone would be paid the same salary of $70k per year and everyone on the left went gaga over it? And of course, they said *nothing* when the company inevitably collapsed?
A model like this were you give employees partial ownership in the company / profit sharing is how you do something like that which will actually work - not the same base salary/wages regardless of skill level or responsibilities required.
That is AWESOME good for Elon and good for the SpaceX employees, CONGRATS, lucky ducks!!
Correct.
“This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.”
Look to the ones on the factory floor that whine and complain the most to take the money and run, LOL!
But, good on Elon. I like anything that makes LefTard heads explode! :)
“This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.”
35, maybe 40, years ago my wife’s exec assistant left Apple in Cupertino and went to Microsoft in Seattle. She got a ton of MS stock options. Her husband got a good engineering job at Boeing. Guess who got rich in that family!
Maybe not “factory floor” but it was a similar level position.
I wonder how much of the company is now going to quit because they don’t need to work anymore?
Just imagine if only a small percentage of them branch off and start their own company.
I did a quick search earlier.
Musk employs 160,000 people directly, and another 600,000 have work through indirect Musk business connections.
If the democRATS /demoKKKrats had their way, all of them would be on the government dole.
AOC, Bernie, Hiawatha, Booker, Omar…the whole “Eat the Rich” crew are steaming mad today.
I just listened to a YouTube clip from a Fox Biz broadcast ripping a new one in "Rabbit" Warren, Bernie the Parasite, and the POS LA Slimes POS article about how the IPO is going to destroy your 401K.
SHADES OF ATLAS SHRUGGED>
There was a furniture company in Missouri 20 or more years ago that made all employees owners, opened the books to everybody, taught the crew how to read income sheets and balance sheets. Performance really soared. I wonder how that turned out.

I don’t think so.
What peaked me was why he named the company Tesla....Go to Niagara Falls. Two statues of Mr. Tesla and writings about Tesla's inventions. Tesla was a true genius just like Elon. Elon said Tesla never got the credit he deserved....and that's how and why Tesla got it's name.
Go to Niagara Falls and read up on Mr. Tesla....it's an interesting story...and the two Statues are spectacular.
When will someone propose a statue to Elon. It's deserved.
Nice. Well done.👍
Don’t forget to pay yer capital gains taxes. And if you cash the stock this year, it is considered ordinary income. IRS wants 37%.
