A Hopkins County, Texas, homeowner spotted a would-be intruder via a Ring camera Tuesday and shot him as the suspect was allegedly reaching into the house via a broken window in the door.
CBS 19 reported that the homeowner watched the man, Buck Clary, via the Ring camera.
KETK noted that the Sheriff indicated the camera video allegedly showed Clary hitting the front door “and screaming.”
Clary then broke a glass in the door and reached inside the house, which is when the homeowner shot through the door.

Ping!.................
Biden said you can shoot the mailman or doordash guy through the door.
In California, the homeowner might need a team of lawyers and bodyguards afterwards. lol
His arm crossed the threshold.
“Clary then broke a glass in the door and reached inside the house, which is when the homeowner shot through the door.” Great restraint by the homewowner.

A 100% legal shoot in CA.
Apparently that’s enough in Texas.
But I’ve been told by deputies that in Florida you have to drag the body in off the porch............
Just say, “It’s comin’ right for us!”
Intruder didn’t not Not A Gun Free Zone or couldn’t read oh well.
Yeah that’s good decorum. Don’t want to have stray bodies cluttering up the porch.
Whether it’s a legal, or at least an acceptable self-defiance shooting depends on a lot of details not mentioned here. A major factor is whether the local sheriff wants to arrest the shooter, or not. They have the option of whether to arrest or not. They are also the ones who will write up the report and recommend, or not, a prosecution. In my former county, which had a Democrat sheriff, there would be almost no way they shooter would avoid arrest. Honestly, the shootee would need to be something special as in having a pocket full of body parts in order for no arrest to take place. In my present county, with a Republican sheriff, I’d be relatively confident that no arrest would take place. At least not before a pretty thorough investigation.
One question I’d ask if whether the shooter was a known drug dealer. That would certainly play into the eventual outcome. Quite frequently you’ll find out months later that what appeared to be a self-defense case was actually a bad drug deal. I’d guess drug dealers get to defend themselves too, but the outcome is likely to be a whole lot messier.

I hope the deputies were kidding. Today’s homicide detectives are - by and large - a smart bunch. I doubt if they’d be fooled… unless they wanted to be.

That’s breaking in or home invasion. Killing the intruder is 100% justified.
… only if your neighborhood has an HOA.
