Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was once again interrupted while providing testimony before the Senate on May 12, 2026, by angry left-wing protesters opposed to the war effort in Iran. The protesters were ultimately ejected from the room, but not before causing quite a scene and interrupting the proceedings. Hegseth took a number of questions during the hearing from members of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee concerning the U.S. conflict with the Middle Eastern nation.
While Hegseth was in the middle of delivering his opening statement, a woman shot up behind him and started yelling. A nearby security guard leapt into action and quickly approached the woman as she continued to yell and be disruptive. Hegseth, cool as ice, kept his composure and simply stopped reading his prepared statement. He didn’t even bother to turn around to see what all the hoopla was about.
Security then escorted the protester out of the chamber. “Iranian-American communities against this illegal war,” the woman yelled in the secretary’s direction, “and if you approve this budget, you will be complicit in the war crimes of this administration!” A few minutes later, a post was published on the LindellTV official account on social media platform X, saying a second protester was also escorted out of the chamber.
According to a report from Mediaite shared by Yahoo News said that the man claimed he didn’t disrupt the hearing. “Why am I getting arrested?” the man asked the security officers who bound his hands with a zip tie. “Getting arrested for photography? Are you serious? I didn’t even speak out at the hearing! Come on! I didn’t even speak! I didn’t even interrupt the hearing!” he yelled.
“I literally just was videoing in the hearing when this happened. You’re supposed to be getting kicked out for videoing, but yet I’m getting arrested. Why am I getting arrested?” the man asked. A few weeks ago, a protester crashed Hegseth’s hearing before the Senate Armed Services committee. During that disruption, the individual slammed the secretary of war, referring to him as a “war criminal” and said he should be arrested.
A clip of the incident shared on the official Fox News Facebook account garnered quite a few views and as usual, the comment section was fiery. One user, Rich, commented, “Question to ask is: how were they allowed in and if invited, by whom? The ‘whom’ should be held responsible. (sure, public hearing, with limited seat availability, so anybody whenever they want can come………not likely).”
Another individual, Pablo, quipped that the first protester sounded like a character from a popular Jack Black film, writing, “By her accent, she sounded like the character Jack Black played in Nacho Libre.” Someone else wondered how the two protesters got through security. “Wow let’s talk security. This is a hearing do you not check people before they come in. Guess not as this is always happening.”
Someone else noted that the Iranian people pleaded for help against the current oppressive regime, pointing out freedom comes with a cost. “The Iranian people asked for our help as the regime was killing their own people. The regime wouldn’t adhere to the No Nukes regulations & inspections. Their lives went backwards in 1979 instead of proceeding into prosperity as it once was. Females young & old had all rights taken away. The Iranian people there & around the world who escaped have rejoiced even at their own risk. Freedom does come at a high personal cost.”
