This is why those who attempt to bifurcate support for Jews with support for Israel don’t get it. The people who want Israel to cease to exist want it because it is the exemplar of Jews, in spite of the internal debates within Israel (it’s not like Jews havn’t been debating each other for the past 3600 years or so). They hate Israel because they hate Jews, so we must support Israel because we support God’s chosen.
Because history repeats itself.
All of which goes to prove that they were justified doing whatever it took to wrest control of Mandatory Palestine away from the British. Because nobody BUT the Jews is going to look out FOR the Jews.
Israel isn’t a country, it’s a lifeboat for a people who spent two homeless millennia being persecuted and murdered all over the world, now at last in command of their own fate.
