Newsweek ^ | 3.2.26

Posted on 03/08/2026 8:34:38 PM PDT by Words Matter

At least four U.S. service members have died. ... Respondents who identified as MAGA Republicans are 30 points more likely than non-MAGA Republicans to say they strongly approve of the military action and 34 points more likely to say it will reduce the threat Iran poses to the United States, CNN reported. They were also 50 points more likely to say they have a “great deal of trust” in Trump to make the right decisions regarding Iran...

Among Republicans, 77 percent said they approve of the decision to take military action in Iran, while 23 percent disapproved. Fifty-eight percent said they believe the action will make Iran less of a threat, while only 27 percent said it would make Iran more of a threat. And 83 percent said they believe Trump has a “clear plan” for handling the situation.

Levin’s show was well worth watching tonight!
His guests provided excellent information on why Trump’s pre-emptive strikes against Iran are not exactly so important and effective!

Saw 90 seconds of MS Now. Panelists were asked: “How bad in the midterms will the Iran war hurt Trump? Will his voters be split by then?

Guy on panel: “The GOP is badly split now. It will be worse by then.”

Turned off the set.

I wholeheartedly support the war, and as an active duty service member, I may have to put my money where my mouth is. I enlisted much later in life so I'm old enough to remember that I've always regarded Iran's theocratic government as one of the most brutal regimes we've ever had to suffer.

It pains me to say that I've been unfollowing a lot of accounts on X who are basically cheerleading for our failure because "THE JOOS!" --accounts I used to respect.

A lot of people showing their true colors. It's shameful.

Regardless of one's opinion over Israel's influence on US foreign policy, the thugs in Iran ARE NOT the good guys! They need to go! They needed to go 45 years ago!

Godspeed President Trump, SecWar Hegseth, and the United States military.

Now, they got one.

Those who oppose the military’s action in Iran pretend that there is no plan to defeat Iran. They know what the plan is:

-Eliminate all nuclear material possessed by Iran. International monitors estimate that Iran still has more than 970 pounds of nearly bomb-grade uranium.
- Cripple the Iranian regime through a relentless air campaign targeting leadership.
-Eliminate all threats to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
-cripple the Iranian military infrastructure through a relentless air campaign.
-Exert pressure that will will produce one of three outcomes: the collapse of the regime, a military coup from within, or a popular uprising leading to a new government willing to negotiate on U.S. terms.

Those traitors want an explanation of how we will accomplish those goals. That information is top secret. Hegseth understands that giving away plans will compromise our effort. The opposition knows it but wants to demand it because it puts our effort into a box.

There is one more complication. Russia is providing Iran with intelligence about the locations and movements of American troops, ships and aircraft. Much of the intelligence Russia has shared with Iran has been imagery from Moscow’s sophisticated constellation of overhead satellites. Several Iranian drones have hit locations where US troops have been in recent days. An Iranian drone struck a makeshift facility housing US troops in Kuwait on Sunday, killing six US service members.

Russia and Iran have been cooperating for at least the last three years on missile and drone technology, with Iran providing Russia with Shahed drones and short-range ballistic missiles to target Ukraine and helping to set up a massive drone factory to pump out Iranian-designed drones inside Russia.

this is a war that could have been fought 48 years ago. the fact that it was not means the world is radically different.

That is because GOP are not, for the most part, team players. They are freelancers. Lone wolves. Or, should I say lone weasels.

There are jobs where you have to get with the program and carry the pizza crumbs back to the ant hill in a line and not disconnect to work on a rotten apple or pile of dog shit. Legislator is one of them. Implement the leader’s agenda. But there are asswipes like Rand Paul and Massie and others who think it is they who are the leader.
