McConnell and McCain tried to squelch the Tea Party in tandem with their Uniparty colleagues (IRS, etc.), while others tried to co-opt it.
Trump finally gave it a voice.
Four years of Biden used the power of the State to try and crush it.
Where Enten gets it right is: yes, its not going away.
Trump added fight, fight, fight to movement.
Federal Judge in 2029: I declare MAGA illegal.
The MAGA people were there before Trump going back to , at least, Pat Buchanan’s first run for president.
> Trump added fight, fight, fight to movement. <
Yes, that and clear goals. Perhaps I wasn’t paying enough attention. Or maybe their leaders didn’t get enough air time. But I never was quite sure what the Tea Party movement was all about.
But by golly, everyone knows what Trump’s MAGA goals are.
MAGA isn’t about a person but about a cause.
Of course it will. Look at American history. There is a LONG history of populism going back at least to the early 19th century. People have distrusted and resented the Establishment....the “Eastern Establishment”...the Leviathan in Washington etc for a very long time. Also, having seen the devastation wrought by so-called “free” trade they will demand a much higher level of protection at least for key industries - on national security grounds as well as for jobs.
I feel like a lot of Ross Perot’s stances were similar to Trump’s. I still remember his “NAFTA? We don’t hafta!”
It even predates the Tea Party. A group called 'The Liberty League' tried to warn the public about FDR's push towards Socialism. It was crushed by the Lamestream press who painted the League as a bunch of spoiled rich people trying to cling on to their money rather than supporting the common good .
“MAGA predates Trump. It had its roots in the Tea Party movement”
You’re right! I’m proud to have been one of the organizers of the first Tea Party Rally February 2009 in Ventura, CA.
Vance, Rubio, DeSantis are examples of representatives I consider fighters.
Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.
Clock: 2
Enten: 1
MAGA is an idea, not an organization.
The fag Feral “Judgies” will be coming after us MAGAs next. Red hats will be outlawed by far left Dips**t “judgettes” from India, Red China, Japan, Mongolia, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Greece, and the silver spoon mansions of America.
I can’t agree with this sentiment. None of the possible successors are even 1/10 as impressive as him, including Vance.
