In 2026 the FIFA World Cup Soccer arrives in the USA. That will be the time when native born Americans PRETEND (if they are polite) to be interested in Soccer or what the rest of the world calls Football. Watching these Brits suffering extreme meltdowns over absurdly (and typically) low scoring soccer games is amusing to watch. It has convinced me that growing up watching either American football vs soccer somehow wires your brain differently. The way soccer flows with its absurdly low scores just does NOT appeal to Americans who expect higher scores in a game that flows entirely different from soccer.
So if you attend any of the FIFA World Cup venues in the USA you can be sure those in the stands surrounding you who are going BERSERK during the soccer games are either visitors from abroad or Americans who have originally immigrated here from the outer soccer loving world. Most native born Americans just can't get very emotional over soccer. That's just the way we are wired.

BTW, do British soccer teams have staff shrinks to help their deranged fans overcome mental destruction?
PING!

"Center holds it....holds it.....holds it...."
I thought that ALL soccer games are low scoring..............
All they have to do is make each goal with 7 points, problem solved!
Maybe the Brits should care more about their country than their girly man soccer games. But then again, we arent much better when it comes to our thugs and felons hero worship.
And 3 points for a penalty kick...............
Have a net within a net so if you score from over a certain distance in the outside net it's good
Soccer is the only thing that British subjects are allowed to have opinions about. The Circuses of Bread and Circuses. If they express opinions about anything of consequence they could be guilty of Hate Crimes.
Communist governments allow only a narrow range of opinions and encourage vigorous debate within that range. For instance if you said Xi Jinping was cool you could debate with others about how cool he was. Is he cool in a chill sort of way or is he cool in a laid back sort of way? You would have to be very careful about making it sound like he was lazy. We had that here with Barack Obama. Saturday Night Live could not make a joke about him so they ended up trying to make him being smart and articulate sound somehow funny. A really funny joke would have been career ending for some comedians.
My problem is NOT the low scoring. Soccer gives nothing that hockey doesn’t give at triple the speed.
I mind neither a pitchers’ duel in baseball, nor a exceptional defense in NFL football. Sacks, interceptions, and a solid open field tackle can be as exciting as a touchdown or field goal.
NFL football is so much more like complex battlefield strategy, with each play a battle, and the result being conquered or lost territory in comprehensible stages. Each play has several battles with in it (qb vs. defenders, OLine versus rushers, CBs versus WRs). Maybe soccer has battle field strategy too, but soccer fans have not bothered to explain what it is.
Never will understand a sport that doesn’t allow you to use two perfectly good arms
I came here for this comment. I was unaware there was any other kind.
True but it still seems absurd.
If they made those few small changes it might be interesting even with low scores.
ive tried at least 50 times over the years to “get into” soccer, and i just dont get it. It all comes down to whoever gets the lucky bounce to get a scoring chance. Mostly just alot of standing around. And i still dont understand when time runs out at the end of the game...yet theres some kind of “bonus” time added. Doesnt say how long it lasts and why. The game fits Europe perfectly, boring and dull.
“That soccer, never could understand that. Anything a five year can do ain’t a sport”. Marcus
and i didnt even mention how the players act like they got shot when theres an injury. I thought the NBA players flopped around..these guys are worse.
You are explaining the FLOW of the game of American football which contrasts sharply with the very different FLOW of soccer which I just can’t get into.
The only sport where grown men pretend to get hurt.
Also if the players occasionally punch each other after physical contact instead of always falling down and writhing in simulated agony.
