Critics see an “obsolete” force, but the author points to historical parallels (post-WWI, post-WWII, and the post-Vietnam “Hollow Army”) where the Army successfully renewed itself. Way back in 1989, we left the MEPS in Atlanta with a Bus. Load. After stopping at a Mom-And-Pop fried chicken place (Everybody there was so nice, they knew where we were going, I'm sure they had a DoD contract)
Next stop was Ft. Jackson, to let off everyone going in the Army.
There were seven of us who rode the bus all the way to Parris Island. Except for the one female, all of us were in the same platoon.
Army wasn't in "crisis" then, and it's not now.
So, whyilovetexas111, I would LOVE to hear YOUR story about going to Boot Camp. Or OCS.

The military suffered mission drift, which has led to being unprepared for war. Pete and his new command structure will need to be in a hurry every day.
Active duty army is at 453,000 troops. Way too small and they plan to make it smaller. Goal is 360,000. WTF.
