Democrat North Carolina Governor Josh Stein broke his deafening silence on the senseless and unprovoked murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska by 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr. on the Charlotte light rail.
After posting his statement on X and using the moment to push his political agenda, suggesting that his budget proposal will fix the issue and calling on the legislature to pass it, Stein got hit with a brutal Community Note on X, calling him out for avoiding the real issue.
He attempted to claim that incidents like this are “why my budget calls for more funding to hire more well-trained police officers.” But social media users were quick to point out that the issue wasn’t policing. It was policies that allowed violent repeat offenders back onto the streets, as was done countless times with Decarlos Brown.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Brown murdered Zarutska last month by stabbing her multiple times on the Charlotte, North Carolina, light rail as bystanders did nothing.
The lunatic had a long criminal rap sheet, with arrests dating back to 2007. He was later arrested at least six more times on charges, including felony larceny, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and communicating threats, according to the Daily Mail. Most of the charges were dropped.
Other reports and social media posts suggest he may have been arrested and released at least 12 times.
A real solution to this crisis of releasing criminals back to the streets to victimize innocent civilians is being proposed in Congress with a bill, introduced by GOP Rep. Jeff Fine (FL), to hold radical judges accountable for releasing criminals back onto the streets to commit heinous crimes.
Full statement from Stein below:
I am heartbroken for the family of Iryna Zarutska, who lost their loved one to this senseless act of violence, and I am appalled by the footage of her murder. We need more cops on the beat to keep people safe. That’s why my budget calls for more funding to hire more well-trained police officers. I call upon the legislature to pass my law enforcement recruitment and retention package to address vacancies in our state and local agencies so they can stop these horrific crimes and hold violent criminals accountable.
Surveillance video from the incident shows Brown, unprovoked, stabbing Zarutska from the seat behind her on the light rail, then wandering around the rail car with what appears to be blood on the floor.
“Bystanders did nothing?”
Of course not. After the NY travesty where the Marine hero on the subway was charged with murder, why would anybody help a victim?
The only folks our D overlords protect are criminals, illegal immigrants, and LGBTQABCDEFGH...
The police are understaffed only because the criminals are on the street. Put the criminals in prison where they belong, and the police staffing will be at a natural level.

That’s a very good point. Keep the bad guys locked up, and they won’t have to put more police on the streets.

A 14 time known wolf.
Why wasn’t the perp in prison? Are they afraid of the optics of imprisoning a black man? People need to get over that crap. The judge who continuously released him should be charged as an accessory to her murder and placed in the same cell as Stabby.
This was not a “senseless act of violence”.
It was a brutal murder by a black man filled with hate for white people because of Democrat propaganda and policies.
The Democrats are accessories to this murder.
“”We need more cops on the beat to keep people safe. That’s why my budget calls for more funding to hire more well-trained police officers.””
Uh, no. More ‘well-trained’ cops on the beat won’t solve this problem if the idiot left keeps letting the bad guys out of jail in a revolving door “no justice at all” system. Cops can’t be everywhere at every minute of the day. It’s the criminal-coddling policies of leftists that’s at fault. And of course, defunding the police is just one of those policies. Why can’t this guy or anyone say it like it is... ie the truth of the matter.
For posting about this story, my X posts and replies are throttled, and my account has received a “label.” I guess that even X doesn’t want people talking about it! Geez, if I wanted to get throttled, I’d post comments at NYT!
I don’t blame the police or lack thereof. I blame the ACLU lawyers for insisting that mental patients be allowed to roam the streets instead of locking them up. And Judges and prosecutors who would rather catch and release felons than lock them up.
We need serious criminal justice reform. Time to return to 3 strikes, not 16.
You have a light rail system anyone can ride without paying. Wtf do you think is going to happen?
The Charlotte Mayor and now the NC governor blaming everything except the evil monster who killed that innocent young woman.
What a bunch of pathetic trash.

...”Repubs just need the guts to pick it up and use it...”
when pigs fly, in my humble opinion.....todays Republican party reminds me of a freshman biology class I took waaayyy back in the last century in high school....we studied spineless creatures back then....amoebae, paramecium, etc......reincarnated as today’s Republicans......
More well trained police officers wouldn’t have changed one damn thing here. More prisons and longer sentences would have.
None of this has anything to do with anyone’s heritage
or relgion.
How dare you?
Jews seem to love socialism and destruction. Just a comment. They did kill Jesus. Just saying.
The Romans killed Jesus. Read up a little.
