On Wednesday’s broadcast of NPR’s “All Things Considered,” NPR National Correspondent Frank Langfitt stated that in the Congress Heights area of D.C. some of the people he spoke to told him “crime is worse than the statistics show,” because some “have given up reporting to police because they feel a lot of crimes go unpunished.”
Langfitt stated that in the U Street area, people he spoke to “said crime didn’t seem that bad to them.”
Langfitt further stated that after talking to people in the U Street area, “I went across the Anacostia River to Congress Heights. This is among the poorest areas of the city, vast majority of the population is black. And, also, the D.C. Police say this is part of an area with among the highest crime — violent crime rates in the city. But unlike U Street, people in Congress Heights said crime is a really big problem there, shootings, robbery, burglaries. In fact, some say crime is worse than the statistics show, because, many say, have given up reporting to police because they feel a lot of crimes go unpunished.”

Amazing—this is true in all Democrat run big cities.
Time is valuable—and folks are not going to waste their time reporting crimes if there are unlikely to be significant consequences for the criminal.
That is particularly true for small dollar property crimes where there is no insurance claim to substantiate.
Frank is so fired.
Snitches get stitches.............
“..this is true in all Democrat run big cities...”
The domestic communist party has make a complete mockery of our legal/justice system. To call them “democrats” is political appropriation. They’re outright rabid communists wrapped in a democrat wrapper.
NPR said that…careful npr that is flirting with credibility…
Sadly though, crimes going unpunished is not limited to urban hell holes. I live in a rural area and last year my neighbor's tractor was stolen right out of the field. It was reported but the Sherriff's office only recorded the basic facts.
My neighbor went down the road stopping at all houses to see if they had doorbell cameras. She was able to track the tractor's destination by noticing it going past on the doorbell cameras. The tractor was recovered.
It’s not a crime if that designation has been removed from it. It’s a great way to decrease crime. Ask any commie lib.
Wish they had defunded these morons long ago so they could have been doing honest reporting all along. Better late than never!!!
"Its count of homicide victimizations by race isn’t yet terribly politicized..in general, the funeral and medical industries are better at filling out their paperwork than the law enforcement profession.
The CDC numbers report solely on homicide victims rather than murder offenders.
Murder rate in world capitals:
Not so bad? Ha! Number of street crimes committed in my area of Sandy, UT for the past 20 years? Zero.
The only crime stats that can be accurate are homicides. Because there is a dead body to deal with, whether anyone reported something or not.
Was the thief caught and punished?
I'm not sure.
