SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Ten South Dakota Department of Correction inmates will be deported as part of Operation Prairie Thunder and after approval by the South Dakota Board of Pardons and Paroles Wednesday.
According to a news release from Republican Gov. Larry Rhoden, the inmates will be transferred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody for deportation proceedings, ensuring they are not released back into South Dakota communities.
“South Dakota taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for illegal alien criminals,” Rhoden said in the news release.
The inmates that were paroled for deportation include:
Jose Sanchez #78283, Mexico, multiple counts of Possession Controlled Substance (Schedule I & II);
Yahia Hassan #77076, Sudan, multiple counts of Possession Controlled Substance (Schedule I & II), 3rd Degree Burglary, and Receiving/Transferring Stolen Vehicle;
Patrick Morris #78412, Liberia, Grand Theft < $2,500 and 1st Degree Burglary;
Dustin Buffalo #73336, Canada, Reckless Burning and Aggravated Assault; Mohammed Kromah #69826, Liberia, Aggravated Assault;

I miss living in South Dakota.
There’s some vibrant diversity right there.
Good riddance.
Pardon my ignorance, but isn’t deporting them just turning them loose? If I were a wetback in an American prison looking at serious felony time, I think I’d like to be deported, then sneak back into the USA.
That thought occurred to me as well.
We need to bring back the death penalty for crimes like murder, rape, child abuse........
Not only might that give others pause to think about committing similar crimes, but it would prevent recidivism and open up jail space for other less serious crimes.
And I really do like the OT solution for dealing with theft, which is making the perp pay the wronged party back 4 times the value of what they stole.
There is a new Sheriff in town and he has gotten the job done.
The borders are largely sealed at this time except at Customs Ports.
Bidens thousands of border hoppers a day are no more.
Catch and Release is no more and fingerprint, DNA and other readers give instant notice of those previously deported if they attempt it.
The situation has totally changed with ICE being Active and reported in the News. Those self-deporting is massive for the same reason.
They were all near sentence completion anyway
Ok. I guess that makes sense. But I like metmom’s post #5. Death penalty, etc.
a/k/a deportation through a trap door while wearing a hempen necktie.
