Gilligan’s Island Star Tina Louise Makes Rare Public Outing at 91

Tina Louise was spotted on a different island.
The Gilligan’s Island alum, 91, made a rare public appearance June 4 in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, marking her first sighting since she attended the New York Film Festival in 2022.
For the outing, Louise—who portrayed the aptly named Ginger Grant on the CBS sitcom from 1964 to 1967—donned a black leather jacket and blue jeans. She complemented the look by sporting her signature red hair, black sneakers and carrying a navy blue umbrella and two black bags.
Since appearing on Gilligan’s Island, Louise—who is the last living cast member, surviving fellow stars Bob Denver (Gilligan), Alan Hale Jr. (The Skipper) and Dawn Wells (Mary Ann Summers)—has made a pointed attempt at extending her legacy beyond the ‘60s sitcom.

Everyone says that. The point of the character was largely to caricature her vanity, so you were SUPPOSED to like Mary Ann more.

Yes! You figured it out. Mary Ann's sweetness and the ability to make satisfying food with coconuts and not much else is necessary, but Ginger has her place too. Like the Howells, she is a bit of a fish out of water.
