CAPE TOWN — In response to public outcry accusing the country's regime of engaging in genocide, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa assured people that skulls of murdered white farmers were just Halloween decorations.
Concerns were raised after white farmers sought to flee the country and find refuge elsewhere, leading President Ramaphosa to clarify that the decomposing skulls displayed in piles outside the land once owned by white farmers were just festive decor.
"Halloween happens during the summer here in South Africa," Ramaphosa told reporters. "Traditionally, we are a people who take great pride in our Halloween decorations. The decaying human skulls you see mounted prominently along the road are simply there as early decorations to get people into the spirit of Halloween. They look realistic, don't they?"
The South African government has faced harsh criticism in recent months for its treatment of white families, with Ramaphosa explaining that the song "Kill the Farmer" was not an anthem intended to call for the killing of farmers. He emphasized that the decapitated skulls were similarly mistaken for something they were not. "Yes, we murdered white farmers and placed their skulls in piles," he said. "But that doesn't mean we murdered white farmers and put their skulls in piles. We're just getting a head start on Halloween this year with some delightfully ghoulish decor. That's all."
At publishing time, Ramaphosa had also explained that the invitations people received for the "White Farmer Assault & Rape Festival" should not be taken as an incitement for anyone to perpetrate violence.

The average murder rate is about 3-4 times higher for Boer farmers than the rest of SA. Even more significant when you consider S. Africa is THE most dangerous country in Africa and the FIFTH highest crime rate in the entire world (2024).
While an active genocide is not existent my feeling is they are somewhere around a 5 on the 10 step genocide watch.
I think I will add dead South Africans to my list of what shouldn’t be subjects of humor.
Along with the Holocaust, rape, child molestation and deaths of pre-born babies by abortion.

I got to the last sentence before I questioned if this was satire and checked the source.

South Africa has one of the highest murder rates globally, with violent crime affecting all racial groups.
In 2024, South African Police Service (SAPS)recorded 26,232 murders nationwide, averaging about 72 murders per day in a population of roughly 60 million.
A 2009 SAPS analysis found that white South Africans, who make up about 7-9% of the population (approximately 4.2-5.4 million based on 2022 census data), accounted for only 1.8% of murder victims. A 2016 Lancet study on non-natural deaths supported this, showing white deaths due to interpersonal violence were about 2.7% of the total, despite whites being 9% of the population.
Data on Indian and Coloured (mixed-race) South Africans is less specific, but experts note that poorer Black and Coloured communities face higher risks of violence due to socioeconomic factors and urban crime rates. Lizette Lancaster from the Institute for Security Studies stated, “Whites are far less likely to be murdered than their black or coloured counterparts.”
SAPS reported 44 farm-related murders in 2024, with only 8 victims being farmers. The remaining 36 included farm employees and dwellers, who are predominantly Black. In the last quarter of 2024 (October-December), 12 farm murders were recorded: 1 was a white farmer, while 5 were farm dwellers and 4 were employees, likely Black. In the first quarter of 2025, 5 of 6 farm murder victims were Black, and 1 was white.
The Transvaal Agricultural Union (TLU-SA) estimates 1,363 white farmers were murdered between 1990 and 2024, averaging about 40 per year. This includes 529 relatives, 38 white workers, and 30 white visitors, alongside 88 Black farmers, 61 Black relatives, 188 Black workers, and 7 Black visitors. These numbers represent less than 1% of South Africa’s total murders, which exceed 20,000 annually
Whites are definitely targeted by political groups and it could lead to Zimbabwe level disasters, so it is good that President Trump highlighted this.
I support the breakup of South Africa with the Western Cape and Transvaal set up as a separate country
