WASHINGTON, D.C. — With the nation anxious about the ramifications of widespread tariffs, President Trump assured Americans that everything would be settled down by the time his third term started.
Though admitting that tariffs may cause temporary market chaos and inflation, Trump remained confident that the short-term pain would lead to an economic boom in his next term.
"By the time I'm sworn in on January 20, 2029, all these worries will be in the past," said Trump. "It will be the new golden age of America. People will ask if you remember the market crashing in 2025, and you'll say no, because you'll be too busy counting all your money. We're going to be so rich, and so much stronger when I start my third term, it's going to all be worth it, believe me."
Democrats are hoping that the immediate economic effects will hand them victory in the 2026 midterms, but admitted it's unlikely to increase their chances against Trump in 2028. "We're really hoping for another Great Depression, but we can't bank on it," said Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer. "I'm not sure what else could stop Trump from serving a third, or even a fourth term."
At publishing time, Trump had sought to reassure concerned Americans by unveiling his economic twelve-year-plan as President.
Brutal roast.
The bee is good but I think Trump is finding out just how much many people in his own party love cheap China knockoffs see Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Charles Grassley
I know this is the Bee, but abolishing the $3+ trillion unconstitutional portion of the federal gov’t would MUCH MORE make up for whatever temporary pain these tariffs may cost.
The Bee should stick to satire, not editorializing anti-tariff propaganda.
And that is their right in the voluntary cooperation between buyers and sellers in the marketplace. Who is anyone to deny consumers the right to make their own quality and price choices in the marketplace?
Certainly not the corrupt, confused, and coercive gov't.
This is why even previous republican presidents talked big, but never did anything about it.
Trump is serious. I never thought we’d end up with a leader that would make the hard decisions and just accept the blowback from a weak public.
Make companies in China follow the same environment regulations as companies in the United States and we can talk.
China and India are building one coal-powered power plant a week to supply industry with cheap power, which is a huge advantage.
We are shutting down coal plants and replacing them with cost-inefficient, unreliable, ungreen "green" energy.
Start of term 3 or end of?
It doesn’t matter what other countries do to screw up their economy. We can successfully trade with them as long as we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot if and when they do.
Indeed aka kickbacks mum is their word.
I don’t waste time on you. I have learned what a loon you are.
Of course.
Until you find out that the baby bibs your children have been using have lead in the lining, the Thomas the Tank Engine toys they were playing with had lead in the paint, the baby shampoo has endocrine blockers, etc.
Nobody signed up for that, but this is what you get when you manufacture products in a country that just 20 years ago specifically stated that their goal was to destroy American hegemony.
Why reply to me if I’m such a waste of time?
Your assertions are conclusory and have no rationale or reasonable support.
You are a bad-faith poser and as I said I will try not to post to you.
It was my fault. I responded to you first. I didn’t notice who I was responding to.
In 2002 when they weren’t concocting schemes to invade Iraq under the guise of National Security the Bush administration worked to get China into the WTO and even most favored nation status despite them openly committing genocide in parts of their country and literally having the highest CO2 emissions of any industrialized country….but hey as long as the US gets it’s cheap stuff at Walmart that’s app that matters right
Guess you don’t believe in the voluntary cooperation between buyers and sellers in the open competition of the marketplace AKA “The Wealth of Nations”.
Well, to each his own I guess.
Being I had a father in the steel business and watching as he had to lay off waves of quality people simply cause of the dumping of local projects with cheap Chinese and Canadian steel that would be a no
If the Bee only satirizes one side is that not propaganda.
Freedom isn’t perfect but it’s way ahead of whatever’s second place.
Propaganda is nothing but one-sided lies and deception.
