Opinions Divided on Trump/Zelensky Disagrement [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 2 March 2025 | John Semmens

Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif) declared that "millions of Americans are downright ashamed of the way Trump treated President Zelensky. In a complete reversal of former President Biden's successful something for nothing approach to dealing with Ukraine, Trump has suddenly insisted on a quid pro quo minerals deal in exchange for peace. This is no way to treat an ally who is fighting for the kind of democracy we Democrats tried to give to America in the last election."

Rep. Mike Quigley (R-IL) agreed with Schiff, saying "what Trump doesn't understand is that Putin doesn't just want to conquer Ukraine. He wants to conquer the world. These last three years Ukraine has been fighting our war with just a few table scraps of support from us. Every European leader I have spoken to agrees that America has to step up and crush this existential threat to their independence. Instead, Trump has selfishly insisted that Europe must defend itself. I shudder to think of what would've happened in WWII if FDR had that same attitude."

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), previously a big supporter of Ukraine, called for President Zelensky to resign, saying "the mineral deal was a key step toward peace. The profits from this development would be a big aid to reconstructing Ukraine after the horrendous devastation this war has brought to the country. That President Zelensky has rejected this way out and urged a wider war--possibly WWIII--demonstrates a serious detachment from reality. On top of this, his refusal to hold elections seems to disprove contentions that he is fighting for democracy. The United States has been in some serious wars--the Civil War in the 1860s and WWII in the 1940s. In neither case did we cancel elections. Perhaps our earlier generosity toward Ukraine has convinced President Zelensky that we are easy to swindle."

Did little Adam Schiffskyyyyy talk to all of these “millions” of Americans or is he just having a far left, wet dream? From everything I could find, Quigley (R-Il) is actually a (D-Il).

Zelenskyy and his cronies are likely profiting from the war and who knows how much of the billions we gave Ukraine in “aid” got siphoned off into Zelenskyy pockets. Once things get settled in Ukraine, Zelenskyy will flee the country and live the high life on our money. Zelenskyy showed up at the White House expecting another blank check, but Trump isn’t Biden and wants the war settled and an end to handouts to Ukraine.

Nevermind - you were pointing out he was a Democrat, not calling the quote “Democrat” as in he was a RINO.

It’s satire, but a lot of people, particularly in Europe, are worried about another would-be empire gobbling up neighbors one by one. Give Hitler what’s left of Czechoslovakia, and he’ll go for Poland...and France and Britain, etc. They see Putin as Hitler with nukes.
But at this time, Russia is closer to Pakistan with nukes. Weaker than it was 3 years ago, and heading backwards. Far more containable than Germany, too.
We have time and we have Trump. He knows more about negotiating than Chamberlain. And for sure he knows how to dodge a bullet. :) Avoiding WW3 is Job 1.
Zelenskyy can be either part of the solution or part of the problem.
