The reservoir has been empty as of February of last year and no one told the fire department?

And the woman they promoted and pay 750,000 dollars per year to handle that has a job?

How?

...

One of California's biggest scandals (among many) is the way, way overpaid State public employees and CalPERS.

It's outrageous and (related) why even FDR had a major issue with public employee unions.

...

The Santa Ynez Reservoir for Pacific Palisades was dry since 2009...

How is this possible?

...

Well, she is on her 4th job since 2018 so she’s hardly excelling at any of them. Seems her focus is always on diversity instead of her actual jobs.

“Biden already said the fire will be 1005 paid for by the Feds.”

Yeah ... NO!

North Carolina, where the hurricane flooded out a majority of Republicans for Trump should now get the 100% bailout Biden planned for California. And California will get the crappy FEMA that won’t go into liberals’ yards. Too dangerous, doncha know.

Considering all the money that California spends on liberalism, one would expect them to have whatever is needed to deal with this.

But nooo...

Of course. It isn't nobody's" fault. Humans made errors. I even heard them sticking up for the $750K/year incompetent, saying she spoke up. There are times you must speak out or refuse to follow orders. This was one of them. Of course, for the $750K/year incompetent person, that might mean losing that salary she was eminently unqualified for, but hey, I am sure she could have obtained a job in some HR department with a $200K/year salary in which she wouldn't have endangered people except for some unsuspecting employee who commits some woke transgression.

Whenever government fails it is always due to inadequate money and power.

As a public works director, every new agency I went to work for, I always toured my jurisdiction with my supervisors to get an understanding of whats in progress and what projects are in the pipeline, what projects are planned.

A lot of this info is online in the the budget docs and the system planning docs. So when I went in for an interview, I had a good idea the status of the department.

Don’t have time to clean up post. A link to Janisse Quiñones’ LinkIn profile didn’t work for me. Here is my capture of what I found when I logged in.

Proud biophysicist, biomed engineer and CV physiologist. Either the rot is deeper than I suspect, or something else is going on. She is also a 20-yr(?) USCG vet.

She apparently has a PE and a BS ME from University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez

So it doesn’t go away I’ve pasted data ...

I have a tendency to think the last part of your statement is most accurate. These officials seem unqualified for most tasks and were hired/promoted way beyond thru capabilities. There is jot one single thing I have seen or heard that to my mind, justifies their positions or salaries.

I have my own CA nightmare story.

When I was in my twenties I was thrilled to get a job offer from the Pacific Telephone Company. They had me managing a whole bunch of folks in an industry I knew nothing about...

That should have been a red flag but I was young and stupid and arrogant and figured I would learn the job.

On day one I walk into my new office and the person who had the job was cleaning out her stuff.

I noticed that there was stacks of files and papers from the floor to the ceiling on every wall.

I asked her what all that was and she said “You will figure it out”.

I should have walked out right at that moment.

But—I stayed—and the next two years of my working life was one crisis after another, one disaster after another.

When they finally fired me I was upset of course....

Lol.

(It turned that was the “impossible” job that nobody else wanted—and that was why it was available.)

City official said on live TV rather casually that they can use water from the Pacific ocean to put out these fires because the salt in the water can harm the environment. Newscaster gal went right along with him saying they have to protect the environment from salt (even if there are fires,). Not a functioning brain cells between them.

Well, they have an operating philosophy between them: human activity - indeed, the mere existence of humans - is a cancer on the planet. Fires that drive humans out are thus restoring the natural habitat and bringing about environmental justice. Using plant-harming salt water just to save the byproducts of human existence would be a sin.

In a political system like Los Angeles has, they all think this - or they don't get hired.
