The reservoir has been empty as of February of last year and no one told the fire department?
And the woman they promoted and pay 750,000 dollars per year to handle that has a job?
How?
...
One of California's biggest scandals (among many) is the way, way overpaid State public employees and CalPERS.
It's outrageous and (related) why even FDR had a major issue with public employee unions.
...
The Santa Ynez Reservoir for Pacific Palisades was dry since 2009...
How is this possible?
...
Well, she is on her 4th job since 2018 so she’s hardly excelling at any of them. Seems her focus is always on diversity instead of her actual jobs.
Breitbart News reported a Newsweek story:
<><>Newsom cut $100 million from California’s fire prevention budget in 2024,
<><>Newsom endangered the area now being affected by the wildfires.
<><>globe trotter LA Mayor Karen Bass also cut almost $20 million from the city’s budget
<><>Bass deliberately cut “fire services” for the current fiscal year.
<><>a leaked memo showed Bass had another $45 million cut in the works.
Decades ago, nobody noticed when it was a bunch of boring, old white guys taking care of things.
Devin Nunes makes clear federal aid to CA can’t be another massive blank check:
“Just like they’ve done for the last 20 years, California is going to run to the federal government and they’re going to ask for money.”
“I think President Trump, and the Republicans in Congress will say, look, we’re just not going to keep doing the same thing again.”
“It all should be built back, but it has to be built back when California decides that they’re actually going to use the water infrastructure that’s been built in the state for the last 100 years.”
This is common sense. Strings to aid must be attached.
Yes, DEI is the main culprit but I would add ENVIRONMENTALISM TO THE LIST OF THE GUILTY and their total ABSENCE OF FIRE PREPAREDNESS!!!
Yes, the DEI fire chief is caught up in woke nonsense. But apparently, she was trying to do her job, only to be denied the resources to do her job properly.
"It was unavoidable. Nobody could have stopped it. It is a once in a lifetime experience. Even if the reservoirs had been full and the hydrants had pressure, nobody could have stopped it. It is nobody's fault. This is all politicized attacks for partisan purposes."
Sure sounds like it was taken right out of Atlas Shrugged, doesn't it?
See my post above. This is what they have decided to say.
The nice thing about single-party rule is that those in it can get away with anything.
He's trying to salvage his political career so he can run for President in 2028.
But the hole is too deep. He's not getting out of this one.
The fire department has much more important things to do than checking the water supply
“Does the FD never do tests to check the hydrants for water and pressure levels? The fire chief should have had a regular schedule for every single hydrant to be checked for operability.”
Checking the hydrants individually would have shown normal flow and operation. This was an aggregate high-demand problem.
Come on everybody, times have changed, it’s a brave new world, you can’t hold on to those rigid principles. These people that aren’t that smart need these jobs too, stop expecting them to be able to live up to your standards and high expectations.
Agreed on the Atlas Shrugged reference.
Ayn Rand had lived in the old Soviet Union.
She knew all the standard Commie tricks.
Nothing says racist white male hegemony more than having high standards and holding people accountable for meeting them.
Criminal stupidity is a more accurate description.
You all are expecting common sense out of democrats.
Not possible
But the FEMA chief says LA was completely prepared for this fire. What would unprepared look like?

Santa Ynez Reservoir, when it was full
Thanks Liz. Thanks to every poster.
I heard someone say it was against environmental regulations to use salt water on fires.
If true there you have it. They would rather see the city burn down than to use saltwater, to put out fires.
