On December 28, an armed robber entered a Mini Mart & Tobacco store in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. The robber put a gun to the clerk’s head. The clerk accessed his own gun. The clerk shot the robber, killing him before the robber could kill him. The Sheriff’s office responded quickly, investigated the scene, and watched video from the store.
On December 28, 2024 at 8:47 pm, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office responded to an Armed Robbery at the Hwy. 9 Mini Mart & Tobacco store located at 28495 Hwy. 9 in Pageland. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased black male with gunshot wounds. The store clerk gave a statement that the black male had entered the store and put a gun to his head and demanded money. The clerk then produced his own handgun and fired multiple shots at the robber. This was confirmed by the store surveillance video obtained and reviewed by Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office Investigators. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was called to process the crime scene.
Sheriff Cambo Streater would like to remind the citizens of Chesterfield County, that South Carolina law states “A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in another place where he has a right to be, including, his place of business, has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if he reasonably believes it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily injury to himself or another person or to prevent the commission of a violent crime.”
Sheriff Streater strongly supports the rights of our citizens to protect themselves.

FABULOUS news! Thanks for posting.
At least with this story there’s no “is it them Yogi’s” necessary.
Who’s going to rob a place in Pageland? You know you’re going to get shot.
Robber is a dangerous occupation.
Small, very RED county, and if you’re in that type of job, it is VERY IMPORTANT that the county be RED, as ‘locals’ can come by at any time and you may have to ‘deal with them’.
Feel good story of the day!
My County’s sheriff is Grady Judd.
A local Ranger (the name for our local police force) knocked on my door a couple days before the big storm here. He said a stolen phone was pinging in my back yard. While we were out looking for it, I brought up the Chilean gangs that are burglarizing our community.
He said they don’t seem to be violent but if they break in, shoot them. And the force will back me up. We laughed and then he said “But I’m not kidding. I guarantee you will not be prosecuted.”
It was kind of nice knowing that police in middle America now truly feel that way.
(And don’t buy a Galaxie phone. Their location tracking is terrible. It was found 1/4 mile away!)
It is extremely sad that a LEO would even have to make such a statement...................
Good thing this was in America and not New York. Clerk would be up on murder charges.
...it will save the taxpayers in SC thousands plus all the human misery that the perp will leave in his wake if he were still wasting oxygen.
...on the floor there, Bobo ;-)

Hope that applies to all races! As it should!
If your sheriff’s name is Cambo Streater, I think it’s a safe bet you’re somewhere down south.
Only some sheriffs. Out here in CaCaLand a sheriff can issue a CCarry license. But, they only do so for politicos and celebrity security.
“It is extremely sad that a LEO would even have to make such a statement...”
No.
The statement reassures county residents that they can kill armed thugs and face no legal consequences.
A few years back when an armed thug tried to rob a Waffle House, a patron pulled his revolver and blew the perp’s brains out with a shot between the eyes. At a public lectern the next day, the local sheriff commended the shooter on his accurate placement of the kill shot.
The sheriff’s public statement acted as an assurance to the community that it was okay to exercise self-defense in these types of situations. The sheriff’s statement also acted as a warning to thugs.
