The woman killed after being set ablaze by an illegal alien on a New York City subway has finally been identified.
The burn victim was identified as 61-year-old Debrina Kawam.
Kawam was linked to an address in Toms River, New Jersey, but she was described as homeless.
It took investigators more than a week to identify the victim using fingerprints because her burns were so severe.
The New York Post reported:
Cops have identified the woman who was lit on fire as she slept and then burned to death on a Brooklyn subway train while terrified straphangers watched in horror, law enforcement sources said Tuesday.
Debrina Kawam, 61, was identified using fingerprints.
Kawam, who had a listed address of Toms River, New Jersey, was sleeping on an F train at the Stillwell Avenue-Coney Island station in Brooklyn around 7:30 a.m. Dec. 22 when she was set on fire. Illegal Guatemalan immigrant Sebastian Zapeta-Calil is facing first-degree murder charges in the sick attack.
Horrifying video footage shows the accused killer fanning the flames as the woman burned — and calmly watching the scorched victim from a bench on the platform.
A source told The Post she was alive when she was set on fire, with a walker and several bags nearby.
The city medical examiner struggled to identify the body because it was so severely burned in the attack, sources previously said.
The Guatemalan who burned Kawam to death on a New York City subway is an illegal alien who was previously deported by the Trump Administration in June 2018.

Age 57 makes more sense. Thanks.
The story is still bewildering.
In post #19, mbrfl links to a news report. Apparently, Debrina last lived in a 55+ community, and the neighbors interviewed don't understand how she ended up homeless. They didn't mention anything about her using a walker, either.
It turns out, she was 57 years old. See post #14. (Her age is wrong in the GP article.)
Described by whom as homeless? Other riders? Police?
Good God this poor woman. And no one came to her aid.
How horrible. This rodent bastard who did this should be strung up, post haste. No trial. Just get the rope.
Toms River, NJ.
That’s where the hospital I work in is located.
In the video the killer is using a large cloth to fan the flames as the woman stands up as the flames burn her alive. All the while, brain dead people walked by, letting him do it. If I saw that happening, I would have decked him cold and pulled off that burning coat off the woman as fast as I could.
I finally saw the uncensored video and it is horrific. I wish I hadn’t watched. It’s sickening. As far as that cop who just walked by, I don’t know what else can be done to him, but simply firing him is letting him off too easy. And you can hear others making comments off screen, yet none of them came to help. As far as the perp, he should be drawn and quartered like they did in the old days.
Thanks for update n thread mbrfl!
where does one find that version? I don’t see an footage of the NO terror attack either and I’m looking.
It’s at the link. The uncensored video as at the bottom of the article.

Infuriating to see NYers just standing by and filming it and doing nothing. Then seeing the illegal fanning the flames on the woman. Has anyone answered the question of why the woman was just standing there? How did she stand up if she needed a walker? Are they able to do a toxicology report on someone that's been burned?
Yeah, it’s pretty hard to watch. As far as why she just stood there, I saw some article that claimed it’s a neurological reaction that sometimes happens when people are on fire. Supposedly it can cause people to freeze. But I’m no expert so I can’t vouch for that.
Also, as you pointed out, she needed a walker so maybe her adrenaline allowed her to stand without her walker but her disability prevented her from walking.
An EMT explained it to me.
Basically, she went into immediate shock and froze where she was standing.
The first instinctive response to flames is to get up and run away. "Stop, drop, and roll" is the only correct response, but people almost never do that. Somebody else has to knock them down and throw a jacket or blanket over them to cover the flames.
The woman stood up from that instinctive response to flames. The walker meant nothing. But she was already fully engulfed by then and the first thing that happened was she inhaled the flames. That was the end right there. She burned out her lungs, her throat and her eyes. She could not breathe, she could not speak, and she could not see. She probably could not hear either. She could not know what was happening to her or what to do about it.
The intense pain put her into shock, and the pain would only increase if she moved, so she froze. Once she ran out of oxygen, she collapsed.
Were you expecting her to “stop, drop and roll?”
Beat me by 10secs!
Just don’t understand if she was drugged out of her mind how she was able to stand up (They say she was sleeping). Also if she had trouble walking requiring a walker, what is keeping her standing, you’d think if you were burning your body would automatically collapse. Help it make sense.
Posted before I read #31-33. That makes sense but still odd.
