War Room host Steve Bannon slammed the H1-B program as a “scam” during his show on Saturday, calling out Tesla CEO Elon Musk for supporting it.
Bannon labelled Musk a “toddler” after the SpaceX CEO told opponents of H-1B skilled migrant worker visas to “F*** YOURSELF in the face.”

Musk ought to have never said such a thing. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. Am perfectly OK with eccentric, off-beat people, but vulgarity is a turn-off (and I drop F-bombs more than just about anyone I know...).
A company I worked for once advertised such a position. The job requirements stated "5 years of experience with Microsoft.NET".
Microsoft.NET had been on the market for 3 years at that point.
I’m only commenting on this thread to state that I’m not commenting on this subject until January 21st. And then the gloves come off. It’s difficuwler to tywer wwf themoi ooin.
The program could be fixed with some tweaks. That would put the kibosh on the cheaters. We’ll let in the applicants with the highest salaries, and they are no longer tied to their sponsor - they can change jobs at will.
That would be calling their bluff - you want the best and the brightest? OK, go ahead, and pay them what they’re worth.
H1-B - like all government benefit/welfare programs, declined into a fraud and scam perpetrated by insiders of the system.
Over half the jobs go to “head-hunters” and “body shops” who submit multiple applications to US Govt, to increase their chances of selection. They then take a large portion of the wages when they farm the selections out to American tech companies
I huge number of such “consultancies” have arisen in India to facilitate this modern day slave trade.
Just charge a company 100k annually to get a an H1B visa . We will see how important these people are after that.
Musk would no doubt support H1B modification to admit only the best and the brightest.
Musk had a fit of Temper, but we need to cut him some slack. Without his support, Trump would likely have lost.
Sorry Bannon was jailed. Some of us think it was unnecessary. Regardless, his chances of vindication were much improved by what Musk did.
Trump cannot claim to want to deport millions of illegal aliens and then at the same time want to IMPORT millions of H1B recipients.
The H1B program is anti-American. Elon Musk has betrayed American citizens with his push for massive increases of foreign born leaches.
American jobs are for American citizens, damn it!
A goodly majority of H1b Visa holders I’ve met were scam artists who can’t speak english and learned to code on a blackboard in a mud hut.
But there are a few great ones who add tremendously to America.
So it’s a double edged sword in my experience.
I saw a similar, 5 years with Java when it had only been around 2 years.
Speaking of Java, all tjose H1-Bs made Sun Microsystems take over the world didn’t they?
And Hewlett-Patel
And Intel
And General Electric
And Boeing
Bannon sounds jealous.
This is why Bannon is his own worst enemy. He’ll never be back in the Whitehouse with comments like this.
Its “my way or the highway with Bannon. Even when he is WRONG!
The H1N1 /s Visa debate is SILLY! With all the REALLY IMPORTANT things we should be talking about, everyone seems to be focused “like a laser beam” on H1-B.
WHO CARES! ITS TRIVIAL! What about those drones? What about the impending nuclear WWIII? What about the Middle East? What about Iran? What about China? What about The Panama Canal? Greenland? What about the border? What about vaxxines?, What about election corruption? What about food additives that are KILLING us? What about destroying the “Deep State”? and on and on and on.
GET SERIES FOLKS! H1-B is NOT a top priority, but to see the attention the press is giving it (here on FR as well) you would think it was the biggest issue since Germany invading France.
If I recall correctly, there’s no requirement to hire an American worker.
Shut H1B down & send ‘em home.
Japan has some sort of rule for their equivalent of H1-B. Something like “you have to pay them in the top 30% of salaries for their job category”. IOW: If they’re really exceptional talents, you can still hire them. If you’re just trying to undercut wages for your own country’s citizens, not so much.
H1-B seems like a good idea but needs an additional rule: H1-B employees need to be paid wages comparable to those paid Americans.
Also, existing rules need to be better enforced.
Oh, F@#$% off, Bannon.
Musk must defend if he is to avoid complete shutdown of SpaceX and Tesla overnight.
H1B is a scam — but not for reasons mentioned.
The GFY was bad enough but the war threat is unforgivable. Until Trump condems those comments Im going to figure he supports it.
