MSNBC Saying Biden Should Pardon Himself
X ^

@amuse

PARDON? Democrats are now calling on Biden to pardon his entire administration, Democrats in Congress, and himself. So much for the party of ‘no one is above the law’!

At least the Democrats are admitting that their entire party is corrupt. That’s a start.

I can think of something else he should do to himself.

How do you pardon people who have not been charged with any crime unless they want to confess their guilt to a crime, get indicted, and then seek a pardon?

And then President Trump fires nearly every federal employee.

Investigate Hunter anyway. Lawyers cost, plus there is plenty of corruption to go around

thats why i dont care about the Hunter pardon so much. It’s water under the bridge now and all the dirty laundry can be aired. That truthfully will do more damage then years of soap opera drama with court hearings and allegations and indictments and dropping charges.

Trump can now focus on moving forward with MAGA and hopefully try and put a few plugs in place to prevent the Biden tragedy from ever happening again

He should do something to himself but pardoning wasn’t what I was thinking.

Ford did it with Nixon.

You don't need any of that. Blanket pardons like Ford/Nixon and Brandon/Hunter cover everything in a given time period, without specifying any particular action.

He already did. Snooping into Hunter’s crimes was going to get entirely too close to home for Joe.... so that is why Joe pardoned Hunter

I look forward to 4 years of a Trump Admin in which absolutely ANYTHING goes and all Trump and GOP players can be pardoned on an on-going basis. Open season on all aspects of the federal government because Trump’s people CANNOT be guilty of anything.

Good plan. Thanks Democrats.

Previously, all of the talking heads were jabbering that the President could not pardon himself... wait, that was when Trump was in.

.... and yet, they still can’t figure out why they lost.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_pardons_in_the_United_States

A person may decide not to accept a pardon, in which case it does not take effect,[

The full extent of a president’s power to pardon has not been fully tested. According to Ex Parte Garland, 71 U.S. 333 (1866), the President’s authority to pardon is unlimited except in cases of impeachment, extending to every offense known to the law and able to be exercised either before legal proceedings are taken, or during their pendency, or after conviction and judgment. Pardons have been used for presumptive cases, such as when President Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon, who had not been charged with anything, over any possible crimes connected with the Watergate scandal,[8] but the Supreme Court has never considered the legal effect of such pardons.[9] There is disagreement about how the pardon power applies to cases involving obstructions of an impeachment.[10] Also, the ability of a president to pardon themselves (self-pardon) has never been tested in the courts, because, to date, no president has ever taken that action.[11] There has also been speculation as to whether secret pardons are possible.[12]

The Justice Department normally requires that anyone filing a petition for a pardon wait five years after conviction or release prior to receiving a pardon.[19] The constitutionality of open pardons, such as Ford’s pardon of Nixon, has never been judicially tested in the Supreme Court and is open to question.[9]

Joe, Place your bets. It is not over till it is over.

Nothing Hunter did was all by himself. He’s incompetent. Find the facilitators and nail them to the wall.

“And then President Trump fires nearly every federal employee”

As a retired 31 year federal employee that supported the Navy warfighter in the department of defense, with all due respect I’m afraid your comment is one of ignorance.

I know it’s very sheik to bash federal employees here on FR but the notion that every single one is a useless slug just isn’t reality.

> How do you pardon people who have not been charged with any crime… <

The presidential power to pardon evidently has no limits*. For example, Ford pardoned Nixon for all federal crimes Nixon *might* have committed.

* The only exception: The Constitution says a president cannot pardon himself in impeachment cases.

It’s been posted that Biden will make a deal with Willie’s Ho.

He will resign and allow her to actually be the first female president. In exchange for her pardoning him.

But that’s a risky move. There’s no love lost between the Bidens and Kamala. She might just tell him to FO.
