Meanwhile, the House Ethics Committee’s years-long investigation into Matt Gaetz over allegations of sexual misconduct ended after the lawmaker resigned from Congress.
The Gateway Pundit reported on the Ethics Committee’s revival of the junk allegations against Gaetz, even after the Biden DOJ exonerated Gaetz of criminal wrongdoing and dropped the charges in February 2023.
The investigation was reopened in 2023 as Gaetz ramped up challenges to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was later ousted by Gaetz’s Motion to Vacate the chair. Later, when Gaetz threatened to bring a Motion to Vacate against McCarthy in October 2023, McCarthy’s RINO allies began threatening to expel Gaetz based on the Committee’s investigation.
Matt Gaetz has denied the allegations.
“This investigation exists to do what the voters of my district won’t – remove me from office,” said Gaetz in September.
The House Ethics Committee was going to release a “damaging” report on Matt Gaetz on Friday but because he resigned from Congress, the committee lost jurisdiction.

Aha.
Now it makes sense.
Nice move Trump team.
Check.
It looks like Gaetz is all in. He probaby always has been. As soon as his name was floated, the media forgot about Hegseth and Radcliffe (the one they really should be worried about). Trump is not working the same plan as he did in 2016.
In president-elect's statement for Gaetz:
It is my Great Honor to announce that Congressman Matt Gaetz, of Florida, is hereby nominated to be The Attorney General of the United States. Matt is a deeply gifted and tenacious attorney, trained at the William & Mary College of Law, who has distinguished himself in Congress through his focus on achieving desperately needed reform at the Department of Justice. Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System. Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department. On the House Judiciary Committee, which performs oversight of DOJ, Matt played a key role in defeating the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, and exposing alarming and systemic Government Corruption and Weaponization. He is a Champion for the Constitution and the Rule of Law…
What a MAGNIFICENT past seven days this has been!
“House Ethics Committee Loses Jurisdiction, Can’t Release “Damaging” Lawfare Report on Him”
It won’t stop the Dems from leaking the report. Then, following all the brouhaha and folderol, Trump can nominate Mark Levin.
Let me guess. Adam Schiff was going to release it along with all the evidence of Trump’s Russian collusion.
Why didn’t they leak whatever they have when he ran for reelection this year? Seems unlikely that they were expecting him to be tapped for AG.
Ha Ha! Very clever and savvy.
Now, how about MTG? (Marjorie Taylor Greene)
She’s another source of GOP strength.
Those are bogus charges.
The House RINOS are angry he led the charge to get rid of McCarthy.
If Kevin McCarthy was wearing a hat, he would have thrown in on the floor in disgust and frustration after hearing this news. “Darnnit!!”
Good and interesting question.
But I'm not going to question it. Or the possibility of losing the House in various special elections after the GOP's razor thin lead has been poached to fill Trump's cabinet.
I'm just gonna let Trump be Trump.
After all, his political acumen this past year has proven wrong all of my predictions.
I just hope everyone knows what they're doing, that's all.
They had nothing on him anyway. If after a year they hadn’t released it, that was a sign that there was nothing there anyway.
Malicious Prosecution.
Fighting lawfare is winning in court. Not quitting or pardoning. Pardons should be a last resort. That means the lawfare won.
It’s a stupid move. If it was lawfare. That means that they just announced to Democrats lawfare works, and Republicans will surrender to it.
It’s off the table.
