Not sure why they did this after so long of the famous animal living there.

The NY government just showing its true self again. State power over the people is the only thing that matters to them. Liberty, freedom, and self determination never enters their minds unless it’s to find ways to crush it.

There are a lot of famous animals in New York who have avoided being Euthanized. Explain Schumer and AOC.

It’s NYS.

Hochul or James probably were jealous that a squirrel had a bigger following than they did.

Wildlife officials said it is illegal to own the wild animal.

I'm sure they do.

Make them cite the law. Chapter and verse.

I’m sure it’s to show the public who’s in charge.

The mask is off and they don’t even try to hide their contempt for the public.

This type of thing is what first made me DESPISE morally superior leftists who feel their opinions of how the world should work allows them to destroy the worlds of those who disagree with them. It’s one thing to protect animals. It’s another thing to kill animals to supposedly protect them. Won’t give a penny to wildlife organizations as long as they agree to these leftist beliefs. No kill shelters are my charities of choice.

Government is tyranny. It can’t help itself from being oppressive. The abuse their power because they can.

A neighbor had a pet raccoon who got a permit from the city I live in Long Beach, CA. They had to neuter it and get equivalent to a dog licennse annually. They had it on l leash. Funniest thing. Drove a different neighbors dog (German Shephard) nuts, but otherwise everything was fine. And another guy who had a pet possum who he’d take to Flame Broiler for a chicken teriyaki bowl. Bureaucrats are pure evil and 99% Donks.

Dad that this was the outcome, but maybe the owners shouldn’t have posted so much about it online.
I am presuming the owner found some way to monetize the website devoted to his Squirrel and Racoon. Good for him.

That’s called being enterprising and resourceful. But when so much is going well, And so much seems like fun. all it takes is a few miserable complainers making noise to certain organizations, to pop your fun bubble.
Who knows. That ,”Hateful Busybody” might have been some other guy. with his own cute pets to both feature and monetize.

What are they going to do about this? “Punxsutawney Phil has made his prediction for 2024 Groundhog Day: There will be an early spring!”

When will he be euthanized?

That's exactly right. Bureaucracies (i.e., governments) are collectives of committees (i.e., mobs that have only a veneer of morality).

They behave like mobs with PR departments.

They exist only to increase their power and to destroy anything that threatens their existence.

They should have bought the tiny instruments or had the squirrel on the same show as a hawk.

From the article:

"On Oct. 30, DEC seized a raccoon and squirrel sharing a residence with humans, creating the potential for human exposure to rabies. In addition, a person involved with the investigation was bitten by the squirrel. To test for rabies, both animals were euthanized," the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Chemung County Department of Health said in a statement. "The animals are being tested for rabies and anyone who has been in contact with these animals is strongly encouraged to consult
