UFOs are supposed to be the stuff of conspiracy theories and fringe documentaries. And yet many high-ranking government officials believe some of the most explosive claims about UFOs to be true. How would this potential reality affect the conservative worldview?
On December 13, 2023 Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took to the Senate floor to deliver remarks which can only be described as incredible. He was speaking about his amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Remarkably, the subject of this amendment was not Ukraine or China, nor Russia or Iran, but rather UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, or what used to be called UFOs). Schumer lamented that
The United States government has gathered a great deal of information about UAPs over many decades but has refused to share it with the American people. That is wrong and additionally breeds mistrust. We have also been notified by multiple credible sources that information on UAPs has also been withheld from Congress, which, if true, is a violation of laws requiring full notification to the legislative branch.
These claims—that the executive branch of the government has gathered a “great deal of information” about UAP over “decades” but has refused to share it with the public and has even violated the law by withholding information from congress—are quite simply extraordinary.

“Galileo couldn’t scientifically prove what he claimed was fact. “
Galileo totally destroyed geocentrism with his observations if Jupiter’s moons and Venus’ phases.
“Galileo has always seemed to me to be a guy who had a good solid asskicking coming. “
In 2000, the Pope issued an apology for the treatment of Galileo.
“It was the church itself that gave Galileo the forum to argue the very thing he argued. “
He was allowed to argue for heliocentrism only if he at the same time also argued against heliocentrism.
Galileo tried to show that heliocentrism did not conflict with the Bible but the Church declared that heresy.
“ I read Frank Edwards, Vallée, John Fuller, and Adamski.”
Yeah. Also Frank Edwards. John Keel. Brad Steiger. Howard Menger, like Adamski, a contactee book. Gray Barker. Loren Coleman. Jacques Bergier.
It was a junior high science teacher that was all in to UFOs that got me interested. It’s ironic.
Most folks on this thread seem to be following standard historical US Air Force doctrines to pilots...
If you see a UFO cover your eyes for sixty seconds and hope it goes away.
Lol.
I didn’t take Adamski seriously. His tales were a hoot. His contactees were hot chicks and Chads from other planets in our solar system. His claim to scientific qualifications was based on him running a hamburger stand on the road to Mt. Palomar. On the other hand, Frank Edwards was pretty good.
Well, you’re welcome to your opinion. But not all Christians take everything in the Bible literally.
According to the literal meaning of the term, UFOs actually exist. People see them all the time.
That’s a fact; but it doesn’t tell us what they are.
Yes. That’s part of truth seeking and the acknowledgement of truth.
Nothing wrong with being curious about them. I am actually. But the subject is so full of propaganda that the truth is extremely difficult to determine. However if there was nothing there the Govt wouldn’t have expended so much energy suppressing knowledge about it. Swamp gas doesn’t hang around nuclear facilities and leave supersonic traces on radar.
Now you know how we feel Schmucky Schumer
You of course are free to follow any rumor you desire.
What is more likely?
1) This is a planted story designed to distract voters.
2) Aliens from another solar system...who somehow managed to discover a FTL drive, arrive here only to mess with our heads.
The closer I examine the possibility of FTL from the point of physics, the more I believe it is almost certainly impossible.
If you can honestly answer these questions, you have your answer.
I have never believed that UFOs are ‘aliens from another solar system’. I’ve leaned toward a more mass psychological cause (By which I do NOT mean any kind of mental illness) similar to Jung’s thought on the matter.
I think something like Vallee’s notion of a type of ‘thermostat’ or ‘control system’ within the collective consciousness may be operating.
I’m riding with Elon
Not everything is what it seems on the surface.
Weaponization of space is a real idea that governments are considering; in certain ways it began quite a while ago.
Of course it is.
Everybody had that idea since the late 1800s. The only question is who will gain the high ground and hold it.
That is far different then the idea that UFO's are not from Earth. That is what I will not buy without some hard evidence.
And no someone talking about how he saw something he could not explain is not evidence of non-terrestrial visitation. Even if you have Top Secret clearance you do not know everything that is going on.
My point was that there might be an agenda on the part of some politicians. (Harry Reid got the pentagon 22 million in funding back in 2007, for ‘aerial threat’ research. I find it very hard to believe that money was meant for studying ‘UFO reports.’)
And of course they will use scare tactics to try to get money out of the tax payer.
Just the way they are.
I think there was more to it than that.
Now people who claimed to work with that project are out in the world promoting ‘extraterrestrial visitation’.
It is a simple explanation but it fits all known facts.
I don’t think the idea of ‘UFOs’ scares many people today, besides perhaps those religious fundamentalists who believe the UFOs represent ‘demons’. Lots of the people who pay any attention to the matter seem to enjoy thinking about ET visitors; and most of the population doesn’t pay attention in the first place.
We aren’t in a post WWII/Cold War period anymore.
