Dancing with the Stars didn't air a new episode this week because of Tuesday's vice presidential debate, and Democratic nominee Tim Walz wants fans to know he appreciates the sacrifice.
During his closing statements on Tuesday, Oct. 1, Walz addressed those watching at home and thanked them for tuning into the events on the debate stage instead of the DWTS ballroom this week.
As seen in footage from the end of the debate posted to TikTok, Walz, 60, could be heard telling viewers, "Thank you all of you if you're still up, and the folks who missed Dancing with [the] Stars, I appreciate it."
"he's so real for that," one user on TikTok wrote in response to the clip, while someone else reiterated, "He gets it."
"thank you for acknowledging my struggle," another commenter added.
"i mean this should immediately sway everyone's vote," someone else said of Walz, who is running alongside Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. During Tuesday night's debate, Walz faced off against his opponent JD Vance, running mate to Republican candidate Donald Trump.
"OUR KING" another TikTok user wrote about Walz, while others called him "Iconic" and "a man of the people," for addressing DWTS fans directly.
"All 10s for him," someone else quipped.
But despite the sacrifice fans of the ballroom dancing competition series had to make this week, they will be reaping the benefits next week when DWTS airs not just one, but two episodes.
The special two-night event will kick off on Monday, Oct. 7 with Soul Train Night, followed by Hair Metal Night on Tuesday, Oct. 8, during which a double elimination will take place.

VP candidates make a splash in their home state due to the assumption of extra goodies coming if they are elected. Other than that, I don’t think anyone is influenced by VP candidates.
