VP candidates make a splash in their home state due to the assumption of extra goodies coming if they are elected. Other than that, I don’t think anyone is influenced by VP candidates.

Vance said that early on right after he was picked - the VP doesn’t matter in an election. Then in the next sentence he turned it around to focus on Kamala. “It shows how radical and out-of-touch she is with the values of American voters....”
It does that every time he speaks - he turns it into something about Kamala. As he did in the debate.
All of his Q&A’s with reporters (after every speech he gives) has given him a lot of experience in the short time that he has had to hone his responses. Perhaps if Walz had done that he might have done a bit better.
