On CNN this morning, host Kasie Hunt described the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in blunt, truthful terms as:
"A massive failure by the Secret Service."
Moments later, when panelist Elliott Williams, in the context of a discussion of unverified information on social media, made mention of people floating the notion of an "inside job," Hunt shut him down, saying:
"We don't want to get into that."

Stupidity is more likely than malice. My bet is they thought the snipers who actually took him out could cover that roof.
Guess not.
Inside job?
How does a lone gunmen crawl on a WHITE ROOF, on the ONLY HIGHGROUND VANTAGE POINT WITHIN 200 YARDS, and have time to take a shot?
How was that roof not covered?
How did the Secret Service sniper locate, set up, aim, and take out a shoot almost immediately?
Accomplices after the fact.
I’m seeing that it was local SWAT sniper with ROEs not to shoot first.
It looked like all of them but 1 was guarded.
I think that's true. I'm sure she did. Maybe she was wise not to allow speculation.
However this possibility must be investigated, honestly, thoroughly, quickly, and, if possible, quietly so not to alarm people unnecessarily. One wonders if federal agencies can be trusted to do that and if it can be done without political interference.
It seems to me that the Secret Service Agents immediately around President Trump behaved very well.
Kinda like Wile E. Coyote
It’s not possible this wasn’t allowed.
It’s SS 101. He was visible and on the closest roof. This wasn’t a complex environment.
Really? I think they took way too long getting to him , and when they finally did they were all bumbling around like “ummm now what do we do” and the way the shuffled off the stage was looked like they were all awkward and uncertain of their role.
But that’s just me.
More than that, that building rooftop was the perfect spot for a sniper with direct line of sight to the stage.
"A local law enforcement officer climbed to the roof and found Crooks, who pointed the rifle at the officer. The officer then retreated down the ladder, and the gunman quickly fired toward Trump, the officials said. That’s when U.S. Secret Service gunmen shot him, the officials said."Source: https://apnews.com/article/trump-rally-assassination-attempt-db24c5bfbbe7d09fa2437c3c836bb434
